If you can't put up a base antenna get a mag mount and put it on an air-conditioning unit or something like that. Also a small cheap 12v 3-7 amp regulated power supply. If you are local I can donate
Thank you . I truly appreciate the help. I was always taught as a kid not to be afraid to ask questions and ask for help. Just asking the question on this forum saved me a long headache. You pointed me to something to try and I ran with it.
You called it once again. Went through the alignment. Found only one peaking at the top. I did as you suggested with a variable cap on bottom and she's working like a charm. Thank you
Uniden 8917 Washington. Been in a basement for 20 years or so. Hooked it up no smoke. Only puts out about a half watt on AM and SSB. I can hear myself on my monitor radio and sounds good. On receiver side with antenna I hear no signal. If I use my other radio and put coax close I hear myself...
No, circumstances changed and antenna had to come down. Better is very subjective. In the 80s I had it up on a telephone pole and it couldn't be touched. There is bigger. But better? All depends on what you are after.
For the longest time I had an original Astroplane in a pine tree. I actually brought it up with the hoop off and assembled the hoop around the tree. So the antenna was actually in the tree and not above. Had a mast coming down lagged into the tree with Stainless. Worked great with perfect swr...
I have used this mic on all different radios with adapters I made. The 2 best sounding on tx audio were a trc457 and a Yaesu ft101e. No matter what radio you use it on there is a slight hum noise on tx and the closer you are to someone the more they hear it. It's the nature of the beast. People...
No beating up. I truly appreciate all the help. AM has the click. Not so pronounced like on ssb but with a whistle I hear it right at the beginning of the whistle. Where on ssb it is there with every peak clear but under the voice. PA is clear as can be with no click I could hear.
Later today I will check it on AM and the PA. Yes the .1 is original. This radio was a virgin when I got it. Never had a screw out. Everything is as factory.
Ok, I pulled alc transistor out of circuit and like you thought it's worse. I checked the 8v for sag and it's solid. I do not see a diode going to the cap from pin 2 of the ic.
I replaced the big cap in the power supply just because and the tantalum in front of the relay that is a known one to give problems just because. The radio was working good except for the clipping.
I have not removed the limiter. Only turned up the alc. What should I remove to test if it happens without the limiter? I will also get the board number when I go back into the shop. This radio was virgin. Screws never removed until I got it.
