Mobile Rigs - Static, interference, and thoughts on these issues...

I go up maybe 2S? When the stereo is up, it goes up at least 5S as the bass 'hits'. If I turn the radio up to a good song, it goes higher. I have a poly tank, so the metal sender unit/fuel pump is insulated from everything other than thru the wiring.

Mobile Rigs - Static, interference, and thoughts on these issues...

Coax I will be using: https://www.dxengineering.com/search/product-line/dx-engineering-rg-8x-50-ohm-bulk-coaxial-cable?autoview=SKU&keyword=rg8x&sortby=BestKeywordMatch&sortorder=Ascending The fuel pump is grounded to the battery - I ran 12ga or 10ga, power and ground, twisted together. This...

Mobile Rigs - Static, interference, and thoughts on these issues...

Ok, I have been reading the "good book of K0BG", and bonding, common modes, etc. This has given rise to a few questions, thoughts, ponderings. My 78 CJ5, with fiberglass tub, fenders, windshield frame, steel hood, and steel grille, is the vehicle. If has a Mustang 5.0HO with Ford factory EEC-IV...

    High SWR

So, which is better - Mini60 Sark100 analyzer or the NanoVNA? Are these where you just connect it to the coax instead of the radio and start tuning, bonding, etc until it shows good readings? I've never used one, seen one in use, so I have no idea what they do.

Well, hard to bond a soft top, fiberglass body, fenders, and windshield frame. Only the hood, grille, and dash is original metal. I have considered a strap from the hood to battery ground though. Grille is already grounded electrically. Roll bar is bolted to frame, but with rubber bushings...

"5 gallon bucket of toroids.." If only I had a grand to spend on them! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Those things aren't cheap for the good ones. I have some of those snap-on beads, maybe I'll see what happens there. Also a couple snap-on ring style. As for coax type, I'm not sure what brand...

OK, not showing the link. It is a plastic piece on a metal clamp from Amazon. Has a keyhole in the plastic to put the tip thru, the ball keeps it from coming out.

Summit has Curbside, but you can go inside now. DXE is actually a little store inside (picture Walmart with their hair salons, banks, etc inside the main store). I had ordered the part, went in to pick it up, and while waiting for them to pick the part, I was going to shop the DXE, but it was...

I stopped in to Summit Racing (Talmadge) the other week for Jeep parts, and DX Engineering was closed due to COVID.... Otherwise I was picking up a spare 102, as mine seems to get caught in the garage door once in a while when I don't park it just right.. I've already had to braze a new SS ball...

    Puck mount radials

I have one of those 3-legged things. Was told it was a groundplane, was given to me to run on my Antron 1700. Never noticed any difference. Later found out why. Still have it, a token of my CB days in the 90s.

    Happy Convoy Day

Convoy Day? Dark of the moon on the Sixth of June in a Kenworth... Never really thought about it that way! Spent the day with my 2 kids, the neighbor family, a friend and his wife at the local offroad park chatting on the CB doing some trails.

148GTL-DX - how to install talkback?

So you ground that one trace to "activate" the talkback and then use the resistor with it to control volume?

148GTL-DX - how to install talkback?

148GTL-DX - how to install talkback?

I have the MK2 version, with the PB010AB board. It doesn't have a PA jack, but the CW key jack instead. I've tried across speaker ground to chassis ground, RX to ground, ext speaker ground to chassis, and no luck. I plan to put it on a switch, as I only want to use it to monitor setting mic...

This cb price gouging has got to stop

Last eBay auction item I won was my 148GTL-DX. $68 shipped, was amazed I won that cheap, then when it arrived I realized it was a DX, not the normal 148GTL... still works great, after I removed the swing kit that made it squeal every time I keyed up.

This cb price gouging has got to stop

I wish eBay would get away from being flooded with cheap Chinese junk (like Amazon has become) so it would be easier to find quality stuff.

What size are the thumb screws?

I should have added that, as I have a couple Cobra 25 NW ST WX I have them in, too. They seem to be the more common size. Pretty sure the Palomar 250 Elite and Superstar 400 use them too..
