Gotta watch the Harbor Freight shrink wrap. The "Marine" version has the adhesive, the regular stuff doesn't. I found some large adhesive lined heat shrink at the local truck parts store. Those 2/0-4/0 battery cables need large heat shrink.

If it will work in a Cobra 25WXNWST, I'll go for one. Will have to mount the pot in the lower cover, but I don't care. It will just add to the echo knob that will be there too.

It's good that they recognize the issue. Maybe they need to either post how to mod it or else make sure it is well described in the listings for them that there is a mod for those mics. I know I was trying with the stock mic, a RD104E mobile mic, and a Silver Eagle D104 (TUG9?) base mic.

The only thing I can think that would make a difference in the P-in=P-out argument is that the chassis is a ground point usually too, so maybe they expect some of the power to go thru that way? Or, is it where P-out and Ant-out = P-in? P-out (power out) P-in (Power in) Ant-out (Antenna output)

I bought a Ranger EB-2015 board and tried it in my 520, and it didn't work right. The audio was so low. Others on here were saying it had to do with the way the high impedance mic is wired. I took it out and put it in my Cobra 25.
