As someone mentioned earlier, there are probably as much ham radio operators that go to both. Most wont admit it. :) I do have a ham radio friend who really doesn't like CB, but doesn't hate on it. How I was able to score a couple totes of radio gear. :)
I had chance to plug in that Kantronics KAM, and it was dead. Thought I might of used the wrong serial cables, but it turns out the devices are notorious for them to just go dead. There was a good page explaining the problem and I was able to change out the 2 capacitors on the front of the...
Yep, with the Rigblaster Pro, there is no real way to pull the data off to see what frequency on, so you are having to do that manually. :) I think mine is the PRO version as well, controlled by the serial port. I am having difficulties with the serial port on this tower with windows 10 lol...
Also, wondering if I have my Rigblaster here with me... Thought I had it in Nevada. may have to go look out in the garage for it soon. I havent used it since I dont have my Icom 706 MKIIG here. My 756 PRO II I have a separate cable set to make the task easier, but the rigblaster is nice to...
Some great rigs and amps there! I noticed the VHF amp. I want to do some SSB 2m stuff but never got around to it just yet.
For the most part, just choosing Serial and typing in the COM port number, example mine is on COM9, then click open. Putty then should open up a blank black window. Press...
Let me take a picture of the device I got as a freebie last year in September during a vintage computer show in Chicago. Knew it was ham radio related and snagged it up along with a Kantronics device. My Elmer (Rest in Peace K7NNV 2022) Gave me his Kantronics in 2019 which I was able to get...
Sorry for the late reply. I somehow missed you replied previously.
It looks like you got them all attached right. I just realized that duh.... The speaker audio from the radio itself goes into that Radio 1 audio jack... Disregard what I said earlier. I looked at it wrong.
That device I...
Sorry, I misread.. I thought you meant Pin 6. Pin 5 is a ground. It has a NEC 1242H audio chip. On Pin 6, it was at 2.69v, then slowly was increasing a .01v every few seconds.
Hello everyone,
This one I have had since about a year and a half. From the previous thread, I did end up getting that NTE294 and flipped it as needed to replace TR50. Good news is that Transmit works no problems. There is no receive at all. Dead in the water on all modes. Even PA mode you can...
You rock! Yep.. D26... Wouldnt you know.. I scraped off the offending glue, soldered back the 2 crystals, and then a 1n4148 diode in place... LSB now works!!
You were QUICK to troubleshoot that one. Thank you so much SuperLid. Hope yours will come around and be back better than ever.
I swapped them, but the problem didnt carry over. The glue was corroding pretty good though between them, but the damn diode in the middle fell apart from the corrosion. Now I can't see what diode it is as even the number on the board is long gone. Doh! Would you happen to know the diode that...
True dedication to get the radio going again. I have a Cobra 142 GTL base radio that works on USB, but nothing on LSB. Maybe the mode switch is dirty? I didn't look too far into it. Once I get an itch to go through it again I hope to get it going again. I do have another 142 but needs knobs...
I can't believe its already been years ago the last one that happened in 2017. I was in Nevada at the time. Used an old 5.25" floppy disk to look through lol. My son was barely a year old then, and now he is 8 years old. We wont be near totality but even if we can see part of it go by would be...
I restored R122. It now moved the clarifier up about a 1/8th of a turn to the right from where it was centered up yesterday. I was able to try it prior and it was at least following transmit/receive, but as you said, with a slight lag behind it.... Putting back R122 it seemed to of made it more...
Wish mine came with one. I got lucky and won one off ebay for $16 last year in November. Course after shipping it came out to be $33. :) Wish it had the pre-amplified mic circuitry built into the board like some General Electric radios do.
I did remove 1 leg from D32, but I was wondering if also removing a side from R122 did more good or bad.
I was at least able to move around and transmit would follow along with receive, but I better verify with a 2nd radio to be sure it's receive was also tracking.
Thanks for replying Nomad...
Hello,
For whatever reason, it seemed like it was hard to find any pictures or at least some better visuals on how to do the clarifier. I did it the best I could, and attached the pictures.

Thanks to Nomad for the help on going about the modification.
