I do have the last SSB mobile model of a Sears Roadtalker (basically a Cobra 146 GTL) that will transmit the second you hookup the coax... I will have to get video of it this summer if we go out there and get some more stuff out of storage. :)
Hello fellow CBers! :)
This radio seems to not let me go to the 10mA driver setting it calls for. The lowest it will go is 30mA. The Final in the manual said 100mA and that can be easily set, just the driver side will not. Otherwise, the radio is working but would like to set the bias right for...
Hello everyone,
Got a President Jackson that has some kind of a receive issue. Some stations sound very raspy, while some other stations sound ok. It seems that the stronger stations that come in suffer the problem with the raspy receive on the radio. Same thing was kinda happening on my...
Hello,
Friendly reminder to make sure your antenna connectors are clean at the radio and not loose. I should of caught onto it sooner, but I noticed something was wrong when my amp was randomly clicking while I was transmitting on SSB.. I knew to stop and check connections. Sure enough, the...
I think I better replace the two 2SA473 in the President Grant Radio. When I got it, it was missing that 525 transistor and looked like the trace got hot/burnt up. But when you power up, the big 2 watt resistor near the back gets HOT as well as D41 next to the AM regulator/power transistor. I...
Ahhh! Yep, for sure in a DC Circuit. I was going to buy a lot of 10 TIP42C, but now am afraid I might be buying fakes? Surely TIP42C are common enough that most should be ok? I do see some sets were TIP42 is paired up with TIP41 transistors in lots. I usually buy off eBay. I usually wait to...
Nomadradio thanks for the cross reference. Good to have on hand. Luckily its just a small transistor not bolted up to anything. I did buy a NTE294. Most of them were 750 mW, but happened to find one at 1 w. I am sure 750 mW may of still been ok, but a different forum was saying to at least find...
