From what I understand, BC640 along with BC636 and BC538 all should be candidates that would work? Also, the thread mentioned it needing to be 800 mW, but that particular one I am looking at is 625 mW. I may need help sourcing a working replacment if anyone has some time to look into it.
Just did the clarifier unlock on a Galaxy DX99v an hour ago. Did it right and just desoldered one side of the resistor and diode and pulled the leg through if ever one wishes to return it back to stock.
I had a 142 GTL that had no mic audio at all. on AM/SSB or in PA... Stupid shorted capacitor was the culprit! This was in 2017.
If you have no carrier on AM, your voltage regulator may be toast... No receive? Also that regulator... If you replace the regulator, do the service bulletin to...
Thank you. I am kinda lousy at verifying and looking up the stuff to be sure its will work. Good to know there may be that part available if that is the case, I will have to make note, FLIP it around lol.
Hello,
I put aside the President Washington as it still exhibits the same issues even after replacing the diode. I will try it another time.. For now I got out another radio, a President Grant that has the dual finals and the low-mid-high switch up front. TR35 at some point called it quits...
LOL!!! Basically... But as a few said earlier, run it if it works!! Hoping I narrowed down the problem with that President Washington.. Made a discovery and a diode clear across the opposite of the board may the culprit... I will report back in my thread if it is the case.
Oh!!! All is well.. I appreciate that you chimed in... Thank you! At any point the diodes coming in will be as extras. I know its not everyday they go out, but nice to have parts.
Just wanted to express a big thank you to Sonoma and our own Robb (Rest in peace) As I was very close to calling it quits after spending endless hours of trying to find out why stuff was not working on that base President Washington. Made a thread a week and a half ago and it wasnt until last...
I really need to make that 6m dipole out of copper pipe and a plastic T connector lol. Just one of the last things my Elmer and I talked about before he passed in May of 2022... Never made a 6m QSO in my life but there is always a first time for everything.
What software are you using for the radio? Maybe use the last version of Ham Radio Deluxe before it became commercial software. Assuming you have HRD installed, you should be able to hit send and it should at least put your radio in transmit.. If it isnt, then double check the serial settings on...
I tried to gently push on the board with a plastic, but no changes... The radio has been on for awhile now, and the thing is ok. Doesnt change when I flip it right side up. I suppose next time I better leave a radio on for a good 2 hours to be sure.
Got a Cobra 146 GTL that works great, but the thing will drift off once you have it set right side up... But since I adjusted it with the radio upside down, it will stay on frequency and not drift off... Flip it back over, its off lol. Even with the covers on, you can flip it either side and it...
858 chassis. :) You were right. Yea, the thing read 56 ohms.. its fine...
Coming to a loss on what is causing the havoc. :) Wish I woulda gave it a clean and a test prior to a recap to be sure it wasnt something I did. I will have to double check every capacitor I did. The whole radio receives...
