I think the 98 VHP is a good choice. I've heard no complaints about them from anyone so far. If you don't need quite that much power, snap up an RCI 6900 Turbo, and if you dont need the echo/talkback, grab yourself an RCI 2970.

I have also heard both good and bad, unfortunately a bit more bad than good. I haven't seen any of their actual work for myself, so I can't comment on that aspect.

Yup, I agree. If you dont need that much power, then the Stryker 440 is also excellent. I run both, and love both.

I would love to have the opportunity to just test that radio. it woud be great to take a peak inside, too, just to see what a Copper-style "fine job" looks like....

So far, other than a couple minor issues with the antenna connection coming loose on a couple, I've had nothing but good reports. I keep selling out of these things, both the 440 and 490.
