Ordered my first Radio from DTB Radio

I've not heard of that problem, certainly not seen it.

Ordered my first Radio from DTB Radio

I like the new for its higher output, and the old for easier AMC adjustment (especially on low power).

    good ebay deal

Maybe I missed something, but I don't see anywhere in that auction where he says any of it works. Even if it doesn't, you can likely get your money back out of it by reselling it as fixer-upper items.

    connex 3300 hp

Better way to boost talkback is to run about a 15k - 47k resistor from pin 4 of the audio chip to the output of the mic gain control.

    Bob's CB Radio Shop

Those are two different radio shops. R&R is in Delaware, Rolling is in Va (I think), or maybe its W. Va.

    uniden 78 or cobra 29 ??

My preference between the 78 and 29 would be the 29. If I didn't need the higher top-end power that those 2 will give, I'd pick one of the 40-ch SSB units made by Galaxy, which have much better receiver circuits. R+R's website states that they do not use PEP meters. They even go so far as...

Ordered my first Radio from DTB Radio

I dont mean to answer for him, but in general, the new Connex 3300HP's with the dual MOSFET's see 50+ watts PEP from a 14.2-14.3 volt supply. I don't recall exactly what reading I saw from his specific radio, though. I do too many to keep track, lol!

    which radio for txstar 250??

No. I've removed it completely from only two radios, and only after the customers heard the difference in the audio between one that still had the gun in place, and one with it removed. Turning it off doesn't totally remove its effects, as can be seen on a 'scope when compared to one with it...

Ordered my first Radio from DTB Radio

Yes, I did my "Big Talker Package" for him. Nothing fancy, just simple part value changes here and there (and there and there and...), a change in tuning here and there, lovingly mixed in just the right proportions.... Glad you're happy with the radio!

    Bob's CB Radio Shop

Re: bob No, Galaxy handles all warranty work in-house. They use no outside shops for warranty work. They do have 3 shops which they will recommend to their customers for work on their out-of-warranty radios, but Bob's isn't among them. Bob's shop was once a warranty repair center for Magnum...

    $300.00 for a D104???

Its not up to 300 yet, but it looks like it could get there. D104 on Ebay

radio or person tuning it....whats more important ?

Yup, I know exactly what you mean. I have the same basic attitude to a lot of posts on radio forums where the poster is saying the same thing. As for the 200GTL doing 450 watts, I believe it. I saw one do 600 watts on my Bird! I'm joking of course.

    which radio for txstar 250??

My choice would be the Delta Force as far as best quality audio. They have a very good mic preamp circuit, very strong. The connex would be my second choice, only because they have a very bassy tone to them, and without modification, don't really have what I would call a sharp, crisp tone. The...

radio or person tuning it....whats more important ?

Psycho here obviously knows way more than all of the engineers that ever designed, built, serviced, etc any AM radio equipment ever built. They ALL disagree with him, so he has to be right.

    This is insanity!

Unless you are a serious collector of Indian Motorcycles and related items, you can't appreciate just how rare that empty oil can really is. I'm not a bit surprised it went for the amount that it went for.

    ordered the Connex 4300HP-300 today

I'll tell you why. Those radios use transformer modulation, and their transformers are stout enough to handle very high audio levels and currents without saturating. This allows the 29 (and 25) to be tailored nicely for VERY high audio. With proper modification, they can be set for a fairly low...

radio or person tuning it....whats more important ?

A really good tech can take even a low-end radio and make it perform pretty well, so I'd have to say the tech is most important. It obviously goes a long way when you have a quality radio to begin with. Service monitors are a nice thing, but most have only the basic function of the various...

    MICRO X COPTER ?

They seemed to fly pretty well. One had a gentle oscillation front to back, but a net forward movement in the long run. One a side note, I found that if you have a large area, you can give those things a downward-angled launch from your hand (like tossing a glider), and they will correct and...

    Audio monster

I have to agree. With a supply voltage of 14.3 volts during testing, I've seen well over 60 watts out of a Cobra 29. Now that was on max peaks, including the spike caused by inductive kickback from the transformer when the AMC isn't kicking in, and using an o-scope to calculate that reading. As...

WHAT HAPPEN TO ALL THE TECH'S ?

Exactly right!!! Amen!!! By the way, I'm still here. Its been a very busy year, and I haven't had time to browse the forum that much.
