Looking for a good condition working non hacked up 2950 first generation. Doesn't have to be NOS but nothing drug behind a truck either. Preferably no opened clarifier or echo board.
Thanks 73
Tony
If your goal it to talk local as far as possible I would put the beam up by itself and aim it in the direction you want vertically polarized since the majority of guys are running omni verticals anyway.. Just put up the imax or v58 on a pushup pole for monitoring..
Got a fair amount of time Sunday in the chair. 6 was open pretty much all day and voice contacts were easy. Worked a rover in Iowa that gave me some new grids on 222/432. Picked up several new grids on 6 in the DM region. I didn't top last years score of 30 k but closed out with 28,548. Not too...
04:42 utc.. turning in for the night. Will try to hit it again in the morning.. will need coffee to offset Miller products.. all in all not bad so far. Run into most of the usual suspects. Had some nice band runs. Grabbed a couple new grids on 432.. one new one 222 and one on 2 I needed in...
Well grabbed a couple grids in FL this morning on 145. Heard a couple stations off to the east but major QSB...didn't work them. Kinda wishing I had more horsepower and aluminum....
Just work 2 stations in NJ ssb. The first was 5/7.. second was 5/9. We exchanged reports and grids. By the time we got to names.. he was gone. Just barely readable in the noise. Here...then gone like you flipped a switch. Gotta love the magic band!
Due to work and family (baseball) I have limited amounts of time to play radio. I have been trying to get up on the weekends and turn on 6 meters .145. I seem to usually get things going to late and it's dying out (ssb) by the time I'm on. I run 100 w and 5 elements at 48 ft. Not a big station...
Buddy called me tonight and said he put talkback into a new Cobra 29. Said he put a resistor across the ext spk and pa on board worked fine. Then he decided to make it variable so he tied the rf gain pot wires together and ran 2 wires to it and back to where he took out his original talkback...
I have never run a vertical at less than 40 ft at the feed point. Last cycle I ran a A99 at 40 ft. Worked the world on ssb without much work. Usually ran around 400-500 watts but also did it with 100 or less from time to time. Usually I chased DX above 27.405. Always SSB... I'm in the Midwest...
Ran a few in the past with and without ground plane.. saw no real difference. My only advice would be to get it up as high as possible.. it will work fine for what it is...
My first SSB rig was a 122 (trc-465). Added an expo 120 kit for extra channels and opened the clarifier. Worked the world on that little rig.. with a 4 pill and an omni. I still have it on a shelf in the closet. I will never let it go...sentimental value.
Great to work you today. Conditions were up and down but when you were up you were in the red on my 2950 in the mobile. So the barefoot 980 and Antron works just fine.

By law they have to resolve the issue to the best of their ability.. As Capt stated call your local utility give them the physical location of the pole.
Most of our poles will be labeled with tag pole #. Also all transformer and overhead equipment poles will have a device number on the pole as...
Don't know if it the "Best" 2 meter mobile but the Larsen nmo 2/70 has always been a well performing mobile antenna. Comet and Diamond make some jumbo high gain mobile antennas but sometimes they don't hold up as well with mobile abuse.. I have limited experience with 2 meter only mobile...
Heard them on 10 ssb Sunday. 5/7 signal at times. I had no luck working them yet. Op was working 25 to as much as 40 up split.. huge pile up. Even when I figured out where he was listening, my 100 w and Imax at 40 ft just didn't cut the mustard unfortunately..
That's very unfortunate news. You might consider a Yaesu rotor. I ran a G800 model for years with no issues until about 2 yrs ago. It was a mid 90s model and had never been touched. The potentiometer final let loose in it.. this was expected since it was starting to act squirrely. This is a...
