I’m a computer Idiot with my laptop. I posted the pictures with my phone. I was also Busy counting the (90) Buttons & knobs on the front of the ICOM 7700.YES it really has (90) of them. LOL
I don’t believe that Kenwood will be in the Amateur Radio business for much longer.I have a neighbor that has a TS-990 that is currently in NY for repairs and they have had it for over a month and he has not heard from them.He has had terrible service on the radio and it’s far from cheap.I’ll...
I would not take it apart. It's designed to stay together. My neighbor has a 55' crank up & we loaded it onto a trailer by hand (4 guys) & we brought it down Interstate 95 from Daytona Beach,Florida to Macclenny,Florida with no issues. It's a great tower & he has a Mosley PRO-67B & an M2 6M7JHV...
I just purchased an ICOM 7700 with the LDG M-7700 external meter from a friends Estate that became a SK on 3/31/23.I Sold my ICOM 7600 which I Loved very much & I purchased it New. I have had the 7700 for a little over a week & I must say it's a BEAST of a radio in appearance & on the air.I use...
If you cut the whip length to short you may also replace it with a Stainless steel welding rod that you can buy at some auto parts & hardware stores for pretty cheap. It will not have a small ball on top but they work very well.No shipping costs either. {:>)
I used a Hamstick 17 meter dipole mounted just below a Mosley TA-33 JR & it was Amazing how well it worked.I now have the TA-53M so I have around 8 dbd of gain & three elements on 10-20 meters & it's a great antenna for just a 14 ft boom but it does weigh 55 lbs. I use a Yaesu G-800SDX rotor & I...
I owned both an ALS-600 & ALS-500 & I would never own another ALS-600.Mine spent more time on the Big Brown Truck than it did here.It went back to Ameritron 4 times & each time the same day that it was returned to me from them.It was a Train Wreck that I parted ways with quickly but it cost me a...
My 1st Base CB was a TRC-30A that my parents purchased me for Christmas when it was On Sale for just $99.99 & I connected it to my A/S M400 STARDUSTER that was in the pine tree in our side yard at around 90'.I added an Astatic D-104 which was my 1st ever & Today I currently own 45 D-104 desk...
Was it a Radio Shack or Micronta Power Supply? I have a couple of the Micronta supplies now but I only saw Radio Shack branded power supplies just before they Crashed & Burned.
I have never seen any Amateur Radio built to the Quality of this radio. The case slides off in One solid piece after removing the screws from the rear of the case. The control knobs & buttons are better quality as well. Also the mounting bracket is much heavier & much better & thicker metal used...
It's better left alone. If you want better audio stay on AM. FM will never sound as good for transmit audio in my opinion & it's all Carrier & no Forward Swing so you will Not get the audio Punch. It's just the nature of the beast for FM. It's easy to over deviate on FM & sound like POOP!
Every piece of gear I own was sold using PEAK Reading numbers so I ONLY use PEAK/PEP reading meters on SSB. I have never had an issue with any of my gear swinging Backwards other than a POS over tuned CB in the 70's maybe. I only use Amateur Radio Gear now other than my GMRS Radios & they don't...
A Dosy just swings all over the place & changes hourly & daily. A properly calibrated wattmeter with the PEP Function is far beyond what a Dosy can or will ever be. They don't have a Peak Reading Circuit so it can't read Peak Output Power. Just because a wattmeter has a Peak Reading switch does...
I have owned 4 or 5 of the TS-50's & they are very simple radios. No menus like the newer rigs & very good transmit audio on both AM & SSB. The downfall to me was finding space for the radio so I stopped using one & went to an ICOM 7000 with the detachable faceplate & it's by far the most...
