I have the wiring diagram for the radio & SM-8 but the radio does not use the customary 8 volts on any pin as with most all ICOM radios that I can tell. The hand microphone does not need that voltage so maybe that's why? I believe the SM-8 would need that voltage for the amplifier board & it...
I just purchased an ICOM M700 PRO a few days ago & I am looking for others who may have owned or used one of these radios. It's a real BEAST of a radio at 25lbs & it requires 13.6 volts at 30 amps for operation at full power. The one I purchased has been opened up so it talks everywhere that it...
I worked them on 17 & 10 meter Phone. it took me about 15 minutes on 17 meters & maybe 5 minutes on 10 meters. It was a New entity for me so I'm pleased.

Just buy a CB. None of them will do a 100 watts on AM & they are pretty much designed for SSB & CW use at full output. Most don't sound that great on AM & they usually put out from 25 to 40 watts PEP on AM. Most people will be running an amplifier on 11 meters these days so you would need to...
Solder has a very Low melting point compared to a solid strand of copper wire. That would be the issue for me. I would much prefer a clamp on connector of some sort that makes a solid connection & that has a higher melting point than any solder we normally use.
The Feedline choice is every bit as important as the antenna. You can buy the most expensive antenna with the highest gain & it's all useless with CHEAP feedline. For any HF Band such as the 11 meter band you don't need LMR 400 because the loss is minimal on HF with a good RG8U coax. If you can...
I got my Ham Radio License is 1994 & CB became far less fun or important since I'm a DX Chaser. I discovered that talking around the world pretty much 24/7 365 was far more fun than talking across the USA & Canada. I pretty much stay on HF 99% of the time unless 6 meters is open. I was given a...
I used a Larson 2/70 for 15 or more years but I have found that the Diamond 7500SG outperforms it. I changed to the Diamond after some testing with both and a couple of others & the 7500SG out did them all. The Larson is still a great antenna just not as good as the 7500SG which I use with my...
I still use the Antron 99 most every day on many bands & it performs very well for a FREE antenna. I have had Zero issues with it & it for sure works far better without the ground plane kit so as I said,I Gave it Away. Unless I wanted a worse signal I would never use one again. The Antron does...
My Antron 99 has a 1.2.1 SWR on 6 meters & I have used it for hundreds or QSO's on 10,11,12,15,& 17 meters & other than 6,10,& 11 meters I used a tuner. It does not beat my yagi's but it works pretty darned good at only 30 ft to the base of the antenna.
I gave away the Useless ground plane kit for my Antron 99 as did several others that I know. We each found them as a waste of money & more Smoke & Mirrors than anything useful. The Antron 99 works better without the ground plane kit as far as each of us are concerned.
Has anyone ever had the issue with the numbers in the display on the Ranger 2950 just fading away? It comes on & looks great for about 5 minutes & then the numbers just fade away. The display lights are still normal & bright so it's not the brightness setting. Thanks much.

Here is what I found.
The FCC’s Office of Engineer and Technology (OET) has evaluated the devices listed below and has concluded that these devices are not only amateur transceivers but can easily be altered for use as Citizens Band (CB) transceivers as well. As such, OET has further concluded...
Well several months ago I Sold the last of my CB Radios after being on the 11 meter band since 1965. I Sold a total of 159 CB Radios last year & & now just stay on the Amateur Bands or GMRS. I went & purchased a few sections of tower from the wife of a local SK & she gave me (4) radios that...
The ones that call here in Florida are not even associated with our local Law Enforcement. I am a Retired (30 Years) State Law Enforcement Officer & I pointed that out to them before I blocked them & they said I was Wrong even after I had spoken to my close friend the Sheriff about it. They are...
Tarheel antennas makes a magnetic mount with (6) magnets on it & it will hold a full size screwdriver antenna in place going down the highway. They are Not CHEAP but they are beyond Serious for a magnet mount. They don't advertise the mount so you must communicate with them by email if you think...
I forgot to mention that Racoon was my 1st CB handle in 1965 before a local friend changed it to SIX-SHOOTER because my Johnson Messenger 100 only had (6) channels & he said I Shot my Mouth on all of them. LOL It stuck with me so I guess it fit. {:>)
