Found the issue. Too close to the house. Moved away like 7 feet and adjusted some. Now happy 1.2-1.3 across 11m band. Both with the VNA and my SWR cross needle
Did a umbrella base (30 lbs) and water base topper (45lbs worth of water) to hold the 10' top rail and antenna up. Be getting more...
Definately needs a tune and height
At current height the Aries II radio says SWR of 1.9 on 38.
My external crossneedle SWR meter was the initial setup and saying 1.3-1.5 (maybe 1.7 as it was late when I did it)
The new Nano VNA after calibration says higher numbers. 25.6mhz is 1.636...
Came in and put up at about 12' at moment to the bade of it. Going to raise so radials are above the gutter and some more. Setup SWR was 1.3-1.5 (ch 40) at 11pm in dark. Going to reset when I raise it up. No worries thats coax to the right and not power and it far over.
Hope all is well. I have been offline for awhile.
I had issues a few years (2020) back trying to wrangle in a Sirio 2016 direct from overseas and with several botched packages from the UK distributor ended up with 7/8's of a antenna and literally tossed the darn thing out. I have been off...
Figure you stock radio is doing probably 4w/10w and not 5/12w. 1-5/5-13 or so is the rating for most of the KM series amps. I had a 203 and it ran great with my 980.
I had the 5555 briefly (post is 2018) and set internally the max to be like 10w on swing on lowest knob setting. Worked ok with the 203. Got rid of the 5555 and got a 6666 in 2019 and set it up without any amp. Get outs very well. Had it setup 50/50 for AM & SSB on swing. I also had the newer...
I would open and turn down to say 50w for your AM max swing. Mine is running 50/50/40 and has been running great for 3 years now or so. Use it as a base unit.
Just fyi per the Mfg the 5555 has a flaw when trying to key CW with it. I had sold my 5555 v6 unit a few years back to someone based on spec for CW use and got immediate response from him as the buyer, and direct from Mfg there was a delay like flaw with the 5555. There use to be Ytube videos up...
This does 30mph all day long. Much more zippy than the fat tire. Guessing less weight and less rolling resistance (aka skinny tires) helps. Did simple 12v headlight, tail/brake combo, and horn. (Just like last one). No turn signals and such on this demo build. This is the bike that customers can...
Next build for the new business I'm trying to do. Kiss budget build ($45 used bike) as the advo piece.
Just headlight, tail, and horn on this.
Same 1200w/48v kit (not fat tire, just 26"). Mock up today. Waiting on the motor to get here.
Workman 507-4 cheapy and the Night Eagle D104. Both worked better than the factory audio. But no noise reduction on either. I used the radio as a base.
I've learned by putting 110 miles on it to and from work a few things.
I need to move the rear side lights back as my heel catches them once and awhile.
Check for anything lose weekly.
The ride is cool at night when it's less than 50' F and you don't own gloves. (n)
Doing 15-20mph avg will...
Managed to get a rear rack that fit the fat tire for $30. No worries the load will be way under the alleged 50#. Waiting on incoming brake light that will work off the brake lever (switch).
So I put the 48/12 on. Says like .01 amp no load draw.
Also did front white marker with amber signals and the better 12v scooter horn. Rear is red marker with amber signals. Simple led flasher.
Still need to fix the spaghetti.
