It is a 2 deck switch. But I will have to look at it again in regards to your other questions- it does have quite a few wires running to it.. If I can I will take a pic and post it if I can get a good view without unmounting it from the radio.
I’m not sure if it’s bad or not. Trying to determine that. But I want to get a line on where to get another one or a replacement type if I do determine it’s bad.
Thanks
Thanks I will check it out. I did try checking it while operating the switch and there was still nothing but I’ll try pulling the wire off too and checking again.
Thanks I appreciate it. Unfortunately Ken’s is a completely unreliable site now. The last 2 times I tried to order from him he never filled it. Didn’t get charged but orders were never filled even after calling him. It’s to bad because it was one of the only sites left to find old obsolete parts.
Anyone know where I can get a mode switch for a Cobra 2000? I don’t think there is any aftermarket equivalent and I don’t have a scrap radio to pilfer from.
There is no voltage at TP 7/8 posts. So therefore no voltage at final or driver.
Trying to figure out where the disconnect is. Where does that 13 volts originate? Looks like maybe comes from mode switch? There is 13 volts at the white wire post on the switch per the schematics. The orange wire...
Thanks. That is the way I had them in. I had an ECG601 which is supposed to be a sub for D50. I put it in for a laugh. Can get the SSB bias on the driver down to about 75-84 ma but no lower. It drifts up and down as you keep it keyed. On AM it is much higher-around 180-190 ma. Wouldn’t it...
Getting Current reading on the final even without keying the mike! About 20 Ma on SSB down to 18 when keyed. AM about 4 ma then -2.0 when keyed! For the driver, I get about 90 ma on ssb and over 180 ma on AM when keyed. These are the lowest settings I can get
But to follow up on your...
Is it possible to test and or adjust the final or driver bias if L39 and final is not present at all? I was troubleshooting problem in that area. I pulled the final and L39 choke which burned up. But when I try to check the bias current now, there is no reading at all for either the driver or...
Something like this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/set-of-2-Fixed-Inductors-RF-choke-by-Mouser-1-uH-745mA-Xicon-43LQ106-Q-min-40-/313324491927?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
Given that you cannot get these OEM anywhere unless you happen to have junk radio to raid, (which I don't) does anyone know what a proper substitute would be and/or what the specs/ratings is on these? Not shown anywhere in the specs or sams facts...
I usually check the bias current putting an inline meter through the bias wire and those test point posts.
Haven’t been able to find a choke and I don’t have an old radio. Damn, sucks
ok thanks will do I will let you know. Other problem is where the hell do I get another L39. They don’t make them anymore and I have no idea what an equivalent would be.
Other question, can I check and adjust the final bias without the final actually being installed? I’d like to make sure...
Question: when that final and choke smoked, it seems to cause
Question: when that final and choke smoked it seems to have caused power surge in the radio. I believe it smoked the voltage regulator. Could that be the case?
