Just pre-ordered mine from Scotts Radio too, thanks Shadetree for the tip!
I've seen the prototype and it does do 15m, hope the final version does too. That is a factor why I want this radio but it'll still be a keeper if it doesn't.
I have a new electret desk mic fron W2ENY that Crawdad posted...
Are you sure about that?
Best I could find is that computer port in the radio is for a programming cable, not CAT control which is needed for digital modes and modern Ham rigs do have. Icom still uses CI-V (and USB too) which does the same.
Also that radio doesn't do 15m, it does go below the...
That sounds like it may work but mods have to be done to the radio.
Since the OP hasn't made purchases yet, I would still recommend going the with a real Ham rig.
This will be a sure thing without extra mods, cables, and devices to achieve the same goal on top of just being better radio's.
Not sure how it taps audio out from a mic jack that DOESN'T have RX audio out.
One of the mic pins on the Lincoln does have receive but that's usually a ground that switches out receive if the mic is disconnected like Cobra 29s do.
As for TX with that radio you'll have to use VOX which that...
Much higher if the beam is horizontal compared to a vertical.
Remember on a vertical, its the feedpoint height is what counts not the tip of the antenna height.
So the feedpoint and overall height of a horizontal antenna can be up at 60ft as opposed to a 18ft vertical which would only be 42ft.
Looks like that extra height from the extension pole wouldn’t survive high winds. I wouldn’t feel comfortable where I live with that.
Not a bad deal if it isn't rusted. I assume it's local pickup.
I would ask if the tower base is in concrete and if the base section is hinged. You may need a...
Here's another retail electronics store people younger than 45 may not know of, Lafayette Electronics otherwise known as "Laughing Idiot".
I remember them being more of an electronics parts store than Radio Shack was but they also sold many consumer electronics too.
The last one where I live...
Not entirely true...
The FT8 mode which has taken over the majority of digital mode operating uses 10 meters and is running right now as I types this.
On weekends I do hear some nets on the band and don't forget KC4TVZ acts as the 10 meter beacon.
In the FM simplex section of the band, I do...
The new President George had VOX. Maybe some of the other President radio's too.
I have a Lincoln 2 that has VOX and used a Samson wireless airline mic and it worked. VOX will work on stock mic but a corded mic defeats the purpose.
That's a nice mic!
I really never looked at that one til now. That would work on the Lincoln radio being it needs 5v to power it.
A pricey mic but it's really like you get 2 mics, (condenser and dynamic mic elements) plus EQ and other features but some of those only work on Yaesu radio's...
Those Chinese President radios use electret mics so what ever mic you use, be sure NOT to wire up pin 6 which carries 5v current.
Ham radio electret mics I know of require 8v so those may not work too good on President radio's.
You could use some ingenuity and power an electret Icom SM-30 to a...
You guys may want to reconsider about train horns.
I read this last week…

The yellowish tan I recall were the Amphenol. These are real good as long that you buy the genuine brand.
I buy my silver/teflon connectors from American Radio too and they've all been teflon.
Legitimate silver/teflon are very good too and less expensive.
I would be wary of the cheaper...
I switched over to N connectors for all my outside connections. These aren't completely water tight but are more water resistant than PL-259's.
They also make a far better electrical connection because the center pin doesn't get intermittent over time with wear and they don't rely on the torque...
What wonderful grammar and punctuation skills on display!
I bet when you smile we can see you have more teeth than IQ points, where were you edumucated?
DXE sells the rotor platform but it was out of stock when I was looking for them.
I bought the same pair direct from a company in Germany for fifty bucks cheaper with shipping. I also bought the thrust bearings from them which were priced good and to be sure they matched up with the platform...
The rotor is the Yaesu G800-DXA and I use the Hy Gain YRC-1 rotor controller which provides both manual and computer control that works with many rig and rotor control software programs I use like HRD, N1NM Logger, and PstRotatorAZ.
I ony wish I had the antenna at least 45 feet!
The sound...
