Now you"re talking (or will be doing some talking)!
I'm waiting for delivery on a Mosley 5 band MP-33 NW and will only use a wire for 30 to 80m. Should have mine by January 20th.
Good luck with your tower set up!
End fed antennas are in a sense half of a dipole because there is no return current flowing in a equal path.
Anytime you NEED a transformer, coil, or other matching device this means there will be losses in that device. Judging an antenna by the contacts made isn't a good judgment.
Many people...
Yes, I would like to see his antenna too. I haven't heard of a end fed "half square", just an end fed half wave if this is the same thing.
These end fed half wave antennas seem to be the latest fad in antenna design, but it seems without an effective transformer, it wouldn’t work very well and...
A shack in the box!
I don't think it's all that bad.
I somewhat admire the creative thinking but it's a bit trashy looking.
Maybe if the original radio box was black and some creative looking bezels were used for each component, they would blend in better.
I did it once, noticed no difference.
It probably depends on the source of static to whether it'll be effective.
Many fuel tanker trucks have used them attached to the trailers rear axle dragging on the pavement as a way to help static discharge but I don't notice them anymore.
These trucks...
Good points,
One design flaw about the Predator antenna is the coils are kind of soft and easily can get deformed.
Yes, this will affect the tuning.
My Predator is over 10 years old so I'm assuming the design hasn't changed since then.
Rather odd you have to trim the whip. The whip on the Predator has quite a bit of adjustment on it.
I've used these antennas and they do work well. They're light weight for it's size and rather long for a shortened mobile antenna especially the single coil version with 27 inch lower mast. This...
The Little Tarheel HP is the better antenna for a this size. Not because it handles more power, but because this antenna uses far less tuning coil for each band compared to yours. For this reason, this antenna requires an external antenna matching coil to bring up the lowered feedpoint impedance...
100% on this!
Take note, you're feeding a balanced antenna with an unbalanced feedline such as coax and will cause the unequal current to flow back on the coax line…hence the term "common mode current".
A 1:1 choke balun is used to control this by adding enough choking impedance to a...
Yes, post some pics of your antenna!
I recently put up a Mosley tri-bander (TA-33 jr). Nice antenna, assembled fairly easy, and seems to work well! Very noticeable difference between my multiband inverted V!
The only drawback to Mosley antennas is they are factory direct, and antennas are made...
Nice!
I've been running HF remote operation for many years. I have different programs that can do it all.
I usually use the free Kenwood ARCP and ARVP software for rig control and audio. This software gives me full rig control and adjustments along with full metering just like sitting in...

Doesn't seem ridiculous that CB shops have to survive by trashing other shops? This has been going on for decades!
We had a forum member here who had a CB shop and trashed nearly every shop except a few of his Internet white list buddies which included Fine Tune. Everyone else was on the black...
D-Rail looks awful on the waterfall and sounds awful.
Surprisingly, Motormouth Maul's signal is a good example of what an AM signal should look like. However, the audio quality is obviously over processed with outboard gear and when used like that in weak band conditions, all that heavy audio...
Too bad Rabbiporkchop don't post here anymore, CaptkiloW didn't like him but I thought his posts on this subject were entertaining, especially other people's rebuttals!
Here is a post I did back in 2015 on Mr. Sherman
Met the Guy in Amarillo. He will insult you and he has to be the biggest narcissists I have ever encountered.
He actually believes the reason there are not many CB shops left like there were years ago is because his quality work has put...
