Oh, I understood. I wasn't aware that Wilson was so precise with regard to coax length and velocity factor such that a perfect 180* phase shift for "that" specific frequency was possible out of the box.
If you consider that an 1.5KW amp is around $3K new. A Texas Star Sweet 16 or similar is ~$1K. That money can be spent on a LOT of tower(s) and you you can install/hang a plethora of antennas!
The beam will improve both receive and transmit. The amp only transmit, and if going into a poor antenna system it may not help on transmit either. Talking to yourself through your toaster gets old after a while.
Putting money into an antenna system will yield greater overall benefit.
To the OP - as mentioned, for that short a run there will be no significant difference between the two types of coax.
You may see a difference in SWR at the radio end if you were using a 100 foot run and comparing RG-8x and RG-213/LMR400. The additional loss in the RG-8x would show less reflect...
I'd back the mic gain down on the mic to just where it modulates the carrier and use the radio mic gain to fine tune. I would need to check mine but I think mine is around 10 o'clock.
That being said, if anyone says the Optima cannot sound "hot" on AM that pretty much answers that question.
Once I get some time to sit back down in front of the radio I will review my notes.

I also know I have been riding the RF gain or attenuator a lot more while upping the scope...
