Congratulations Skeeterman ! I think you will find a lot of good stuff on the ham bands, especially if you get your General ticket. As for the freeband, you should get your fix from the other HF bands you will get when you upgrade. I have my General but I still talk you my local...

    UHF Programming HELP!

Not sure where you are, but the offset for UHF is normally 5 mhz. In the case of 453 mhz, your TX freq should be 458 mhz. you mentioned a 10 mhz split which is not a normal split, and at 461 mhz, that would put your TX into the 471 mhz band, which is normally outside of the normal bandwidth...

    Guns are people too

Is that Glock modified or is it a Glock 18 full auto? I owned a full auto Cobray (SWD) M-11/9 which I just sold recently for these reasons... 1) It ain't cheap to shoot full auto weapons, especially when they cycle at 1200 rpm like the M-11 does  (empties a 30 round mag in 3...

    10 meters open

Do you have 10 meter FM capability? I hear the New York 10m repeater almost all the time on 29.620. They have a PL of 146.2 hz. That repeater is used a lot in the NYC area and ops from all over the country come when there is an opening. Give it a listen.

    Opinion of ARRL

I have said before that the ARRL is much like the NRA. It is a lobby group for a group of people that share a common interest, yet is far too political to serve the common interest of those it represents. That doesn't mean that one shouldn't join, but don't expect the ARRL to do what you...

    Dont you hate it

KC2OST wrote: Uh, I would challenge the validity of that statement. If you have a current restraining order, typically you are required to turn over all weapons. This is done to protect the alleged victim. They are usually returned if and when the order expires. You don't have "a right"...

    Ham licenses.

Technician class license is the only license not requiring a code exam. You get frequency privileges from 50 mhz on up.

    VX-150

Yes, that is a good price. I think I paid around $120 when I got mine. I also got the battery case that holds AA batteries. The radio definitely gets good reviews on eHam and it is a nice 2 meter HT. I see some aftermarket headsets on eBay for around $12.00. If it works that could be a good...

I was wondering if there was an N3KZ repeater near you. It is a great system and not too widely used so hook that groundplane up again and we can have a QSO :D
