Why fit a Balun or choke.

Seen so many threads related to this topic . Common mode Current Baseline noise, BCI, coax length changing swr,RX noise ect. This is the first video showing a direct comparison I've seen.

    Stacking moxons

Yes you can. More gain if done correctly. personally I wouldn't bother, a wide spaced 3 el yagi would provide about the same gain and is a lot easier to construct and feed. But hey if you have two moxons and 1/2 wave or so of space on your tower go for it.

you can check audio with an ac volt meter

    Rf probe and AF voltmeter?

Not for RF you cant.Rf probe has a cap for isolation and a diode to rectify the signal. You read on the dc scale . You can be dealing with microvolts to hundreds of volts depending on what you are reading.

    Trouble shooting help

Absolutely Rob. But as far as testing an rf probe is a great way to go.and they are as cheap as chips and very easy to make.

    Trouble shooting help

Me,I prefer to use an rf probe and go down the rf chain before unsoldering parts or testing dc volts. You can usually tell in minutes what has rf and what is amplifying or not.

Rf sampler smoked out my radio

Few years back the house had a bad earth. First noticed it taking a shower could feel the current. Checked my station ground to house earth, had 40 volts difference. redid the earth and tied all grounds together with a big bus bar. problem solved

Rf sampler smoked out my radio

Ok something else is going on!. That damage is definitely reverse polarity . And that sampler can't cause that damage. The only other thing I can think of is voltage coming back down the negative from the peak powered meter or some strange earth loop . Set everything up. but don't...

    C.B.'s spotted on Longmire!

Some shows just dont try. Saw Csi cyber tracking a microwave router link . The freq readout was 600 KCs and the actor was holding a 2m yagi upright pointing at the sky. And I hate the way on many shows the radios appear full duplex and they can hear or track the other party even though they...

    Sounds logical. Agree or disagree?

"The reason? Repeatable test results." That pretty much covers it.

    Sounds logical. Agree or disagree?

This will stir up the pot for you Rabbiporkchop. Nothing new Here .the impedance repeats every 1/2 wave . note the reference to reactive loads. No need to tune your cable if the loads not reactive . Read the article carefully They're doing this for repeat-ability in a mass production...
