    Newbie Here w/Some DX Questions....

Looks like those days are coming back if Putin has anything to say about it.:scared:

OK All U Beam Antenna Freaks.....

Carl, you lost me. I am pretty much ignorant when it comes to this antenna stuff. Would you see that kind of loss non-local, DX'ing if the other party was running a vertical? Once you bounce on a skip lets say, to Europe, would it make any difference if the other party was vertical or...

OK All U Beam Antenna Freaks.....

Great, thanks! Every time I try to come up with a better option I am sill led back to the Moxon for a variety of reasons. I believe after today, getting out to the west pretty easily from the car that it is going to be difficult no matter what from the house. Rutland sits up and you get a clear...

OK All U Beam Antenna Freaks.....

Wow, lots to digest! I'm still leaning toward the moxon as it's cheap and effective. The issue I currently have is where to put it and how long of a run I can make on lets say, lr400 coax. I'd like to get it up on the bank on a 30 foot mast but that would be a long run. Probably about 80-90 feet...

OK All U Beam Antenna Freaks.....

OK, there you go again 357! Thanks a lot! Now I have to go and look at what a MoonRaker 7 is....Ur killin' me here! :headbang I will definitely do that. I heard a station out of your area yesterday. Very faint. I screamed to the wife in disbelief. I know, I'm like a kid in a candy store with...

OK All U Beam Antenna Freaks.....

Got it! I was just looking at the Moxon Generator model it turned out for 10 meters and it's so easy and doable for a build. 3-4 dec' isn't enough for me to consider the Yagi the way I'm getting out now. With the moxon I believe I can really punch thru to western Europe based on the increased...

OK All U Beam Antenna Freaks.....

Update Looks like everything I'm reading is that a 3-5 beam yagi will out perform a Moxon. The Moxon is incredibly easy to build and I'm having problems finding info on a DIY build for the Yagi.

    Newbie Here w/Some DX Questions....

I appreciate y'all trying. I just can't break thru west of me. I thought I may have gotten Manitoba but can't be sure. That guy tends to key over the people in contact with him. Doesn't wait for them to finish. Same guy? I can hear him well usually. I hear the station from Kansas City MO every...

    Requirements for DX

I was trying to get a guy in Scotland this a.m. and he said he was going to 27.370 to stand by. I think what he was doing was letting everyone know that he was getting away from 27.385 (38 lsb) as it was busy. I dropped down to 37 lsb only to find that the freq' is 27.375. His clarifier is def'...

OK All U Beam Antenna Freaks.....

I have decided to start the process of building a Moxon Beam for the house. I would like to use the ground plane of the metal roof to enhance it but I'm really not sure if that would be an actual benefit. Would that defeat the purpose of the beam directional antenna? I know they focus the...

    Video of my setup

Yes, I just rip it out of the office and throw it onto the armrest in the car. I'm making a bracket for the truck this weekend w/ an so-209 (?) so I can spin the Sirio on it to use when I'm road tripping with the Hobie Cat. I'm going to have to look at what a 3 element beam antenna is (???). I...

it's for both!:D I wanted to use twine but i don't want it to saw my head off in the dark coming from my neighbors house. As it is now I'll just run into it and the shock chord will spring back and I'll land at the bottom face down in the brook.
