Im not really "checking" it on ssb, merely an observation that it also pegs the meter, didnt think it would do that.
I am not an expert, all i know is there is reflect back to radio when amp is on either in high/low and swr is pegged in am, this does not seem right to me. Tryed different Lenths...
Was having no issues running the amp for 2yrs, this problem started this summer and this is the current fix i have for the problem. I have no choice but to tune with amp on. Hope this will answer these questions.
This pic is with amp inline and off, (radio tuned to run with amp on)
This pic...
Im have a bit of trouble with what i believe to be the input tune on the amp, heres the issue.
Using the radios internal tuner it is flat 1.0 across 11 meters, same for the antenna,
When using 2 different radios there are no swr issues and the LP meter still shows 1.0-1.1 swr.
Adding the 350HD...
Well its not looking good for the old 148, A mess of disconnected wires, a smoked resistor, couple diodes with resistors in series. Good thing i pulled the covers before trying to power it up.
It should be here in a few days, fully expecting it not to be working. Ill pull the covers off and post up some pics and go from there. Has some battle scars but for 15 bucks i think i can live with the way it is. Any advice as to where to find knobs?
Thats pretty interesting, now i wonder what i got my self into, i assume parts will be nonexistent, needs a couple of knobs for starters.
Are they worth fixing up?
Ok i thought id give it one more go, turned it on and now channel display is not working, the green rx light only on when "dim" function is on, when switched to bright it loses rx light and no rx is heard, the best part is the right side (side of radio case) of C104 gets so hot you can smell it...
Replaced TR21 a few days ago, havent made any progress with it, I appreciate all the help from everyone but its lookin like the repair is not gonna happen. Ive done all i can think of with my limited diagnostic skills, every time i turn it on to check something another problem shows itself, it...
Thats what i did. Soldered to D14 and JP31, unless i did it wrong it made no difference at all, went through all the channels with frequency counter and no tx on any channel, still no carrier at all. Thank you for the help, much appreciated.
Please dont judge my soldering, i know its a...
You can try adjusting VR5 while keyed up see if meter moves, might not be set right. Note where its positioned before you adjust in case it does nothing and you can put it back where it was.
Ok, i checked TR16 again in TX
B=104.8mv (keeps climbing up)
C=7.67v
E=.798v
I did a test with a resistor across the ex speaker and pa and the "talkback" works fine. First time ive heard anything out of it.
Switched out TR16 c941 with a c945, made no difference
