good finds. my thrift store puts a price on radios about the same as a new radio. he prices cobra 29 radios around 75.00 just as an example of what he does.
here is a link to increase the slide just a little. yours may already have the mod but take a look.

Chevyboy the 29LX is getting hard to find for a parts radio now days. 2 years ago they were on ebay all the time cheap but not now days. looks like all the radios are priced high from what they use to be. some are selling used ones for about the same price you can buy a new one for.
the one I...
Just repaired a 29LX I bought off ebay that the protect diode was blown and some one kept trying the radio to see if it would work and blew the trace in 2 places. they had done some mods to it for swing and the solder was so cold they need to stay away from a radio. the radio works just fine now...
it all depends on how he modded the radio. there are more than one version to get extra channels so with out a freq counter it may be hard to get what you have right. there is 4 versions of the channel mod for this radio. off hand I do not have them all around me. most mods only take you down to...
here is what I found for the pc999 board on the Defpom site. hope this works for you
1) Cut D-45.
2) Find D-79 and jump it (Solder a wire across it)
3) Remove r-120 and replace it with a 470 ohm resistor.
4) Find the BLUE wire from the clarifier knob and cut it just before it connects to the...
thanks oldtech, I have been wanting this from unit_399's old site. I could not download the word version since my packet is a old version of word but the PDF downloaded just fine.
thanks again
I had a 29 popping about like yours a few years ago and changed the caps at the audio IC and it went away. one of the caps was bad causing the noise. forget which one was bad but C48 keeps popping in my head as to the one that was bad, just a thought
it is an old one. do not remember the brand right off hand. it is about 50 years old from what I remember. I have 2 of them and both work just fine.
I looked for the manual for them and they are Eico 147 and 147A. both do the job for me.
