No transmit. Receive works properly (S9 reading w/ 100 microvolts input) but virtually no receive audio - maybe 2%.
Upon keyup, TX light changes to red but the receive continues to receive. Nothing changes but the light.
PA works. No talkback.
Connex 3400. Ranger 360015c board. How can I...
Well, got back to it and checked TR16. I have a scope that is junk. My Rigol is in for repair. I think I'll get on Amazon and get something to me asap. Should always have a working backup.
Here's what I can say about TR16 right now:
E / C / B
RX 0/0/.7
TX 0.1/7.9/0.8 ug, that's not right...
Oops! I was testing TR21 but looking at TR16 on the chart. I feel dumb. TR21 looks good.
TR21 RX 7.8/0/8.6
TR21 TX 7.8/7.8/7.0
Sorry about that. I feel like I need to reset.
With this info, and the fact I’m seeing rf at IC Pin 9 @ 27.205, where do I go from here?
I now have 27.205 at IC3 Pin 9/R61/R63. Reading my backup scope is challenging. My Rigol has a channel out and was sent in for repair. This old thing is on it's last leg.
As mentioned to NZ8N, TR21 has voltage to middle leg during TX but the voltage chart you provided says the opposite...
TR21 (tx/rx switch I think) has power at the middle leg in TX.
The voltage chart Handy Andy uploaded shows Zero volts on TX. Another transistor that is doing the opposite on TX/RX as the voltage chart. I don't understand. Is the voltage chart a typo?
Thanks, Handy. Yes, it has been "tuned" by someone and an echo board was installed. Then, it was sent to me. After looking at TR7 & TR9, I decided to go to bed because the voltages on TX reflect the voltage chart's RX voltages. What the heck? I don't drink but maybe someone slipped me a...
Cobra 29 Classic No RF Power on TX. Doesn’t budge meter. Nothing on scope at the antenna jack.
TX turns red on key -up
Audio works with talkback
PA works
IC3 Pin 1 = 16.510MHz on RX
IC3 Pin 4 = 10.240 MHz on RX
On TX: Base / Collector / Emitter
TR16 0v/8.0v/0.35v
TR15 0v/13.3v/0v
TR14...
Mfg date of radio with problem 3/21, J104
Mfg date of radio just opened 10/22 No J104
Customer sent this brand new radio back after saying the meter wasn’t working correctly. He just purchased it 10 days ago. I’m wondering if it was, in fact, the actual radio I sent him. I don’t track serial...
I replied to your other comment about j104 not being in another radio I opened. Removing it resolved that issue. I’ll test everything shortly. Do the schematics show J104?
Oh My Gosh! I cannot believe this. I opened another Galaxy and it does NOT have J104. I removed it from the radio with the issue (also a new radio) and the problem is resolved.
I’ll reassemble and rest everything else to confirm but. Are you kidding me, Galaxy?
Galaxy dx-959 RF Power-Modulation-SWR switch not changing meter functions.
The meter function is stuck on Power even when switched to the SWR or MOD position. The switch itself is changing continuity between legs so the switch itself seems to be working. All wires from point A to point B...
Thanks, Groundwire. That’s good info. I think my question is more along the line of, “What is considered a reasonable tolerance for one of these units?”. Assuming warm up and alignment of the other test equipment is spot on, 3k seems drastic. I’m also thinking in terms of its main use of tuning...
Looking at buying one and viewing ads on eBay. Two of the listings show the unit with a frequency counter or a spectrum analyzer.
What is considered “within tolerance”?
One listing shows the signal is 3,654Hz off.
The other listing says it’s “calibrated” but the spectrum analyzer shows...
