Cliff notes version: Go find the post by Nomad in that thread about removing TR 26 and putting it in place were TR 24 should be. This should allow you to at least control the ALC level on side band even if the AMC is defeated for AM. If you have NO ssb at all, then that's a different question...

Sorry, but that story is Unicorn wank.. The copper pipe is a very simple 1/4 wave and it is impossible to have that much gain by switching from a 81" loaded 1/4 wave to a full 1/4 wave. S-5 to 20 over S-9 is just not going to happen. If it did people would be tossing there multi element yagi...

Is that the model with the 3/4" tube for the top whip ? It should tune as is without a matching device at the feed point by adjusting the tube. How do you have it mounted? 73 Jeff
