Cliff notes version:
Go find the post by Nomad in that thread about removing TR 26 and putting it in place were TR 24 should be.
This should allow you to at least control the ALC level on side band even if the AMC is defeated for AM.
If you have NO ssb at all, then that's a different question...
999 beat me to it, The AMC and ALC are both defeated if you do this.

Sorry, but that story is Unicorn wank..
The copper pipe is a very simple 1/4 wave and it is impossible to have that much gain by switching from a 81" loaded 1/4 wave to a full 1/4 wave.
S-5 to 20 over S-9 is just not going to happen.
If it did people would be tossing there multi element yagi...

I did not read all of that mess but it seems they are defining the offending device as a " handheld communications device" and it looks like there is an exception for licensed radio operators in that document.
It reads very much aimed squarely at cell phones and tablets

Its Kales heavy duty 10 k with a larger insulator and uses 3\4" tube for the top section in place of a flexible whip.
It should tune around 82" total length for the CB band as long as its mounted properly.
Put some Nolox on all the set screws, that's the only issues I have ever had with his...
Is that the model with the 3/4" tube for the top whip ?
It should tune as is without a matching device at the feed point by adjusting the tube.
How do you have it mounted?
