Thanx for the QSO, Brother!! You sounded great up here but mother nature had other plans. We're in the middle of a sleet/rain/snow storm and everyone s fading in and out. I'm sure we'll do it again. Hopefully with better conditions!
I'll be on 35 and up this evening if the conditions are good. I usually go up as high as .445 and skip around to see what is going on. I'll be on and off starting at about 3pm Eastern til about 7:30.
If you had a 10' or 12' C Band dish it would seem to me that mounting a whip across the diameter of the dish would make it directional, no? Would probably be a hell of a job to get the match down.
I love my DX-500. The audio reports I get are stellar and people are thinking I'm using studio equipment. People are amazed that I'm using a Stryker and a Texas Star.
It's a bit intimidating at first glance. But keeping with only the power and modulation settings it's fairly easy to navigate. If you switch between AM and SSB like I do, it's easy to coordinate the power settings so that you need not adjust the power out put levels when switching modes. For...
I'm not sure if this place sells, but it's the recommended service center for Stryker. I've dealt with him twice and I'll tell ya you'll never find a more personable and accommodating guy in the business.

The reason I haven't is because the mic I'm using has the 9 band EQ on it. I have an AKG headset that I used on stage and could easily use that if I wanted to take my mixer downstairs. But that's such a pain in the ass. Fabbing up a keying button is no biggies, and the mixer has phantom power...
Yeah, I got hosed on my M-1 as well. 1 month out of warranty, (1 year) I had to send it on because the EQ wasn't working right. Cost me nearly $300.00 to repair it. A $650.00 mic and lasts one year. Another $300 to repair. I'm still pissed about this one.
I've used a multitude of amps over the years, including a handful of valve amps. But it seems I get the best audio compliments out of the Texas Star. Doesn't really make sense, but every time I get to DXing, I get one compliment after another about the pure and clear audio.
I would assume you use the channel selector to scroll through the menu, then stopping on the value you want to change, you key the mic and turn the channel knob to increase or decrease the desired value. Release the key and move on. But, I could be wrong. I don't have one of these.
Here you go, folks!
.... On September 14, 2009, WJLX changed its format to oldies, branded as "Oldies 101.5", in conjunction with the launch of FM translator W268BM (101.5 MHz). At the time, the area had no station playing oldies music.[16] Unable to pay debts and financially insolvent, Wal...
Where's the transmitter?
Just playing devil's advocate here, but, did the guy ever say that the station was knocked off the air? It's possible that the station shut down years ago but left the tower there. Maybe someone did steal it quite some time ago, but if it was abandoned, they wouldn't...
