Sorry, not good at typing on phone, old school fingers. Leap, youre right, and now i get the "pill" routine, im used to calling them power transistors, but they do look like pills, huh? Dont guess but what my guy did was just plug and play. So to use this for a stock cobra 25 means ill have to...

    linear....really?????

Ok, so let me back up one.....I assumed 2 pill due to the 2sets of jumpered whats(?). But now leapfrog and tallman appear to be right, single pill as a preamp. What exactly are the units with the jumpers? My bad about 2pill, im used to seeing transistors marked with #s. Please bear in mind, im...

Yeah, couldnt wait. 4 screws, move the front, cover slides off. Looks like 2"pills" jumpered. SD1446, 59V, 0130; no signs of corrosion or burning. Couldnt find #s or marks on the pills. Hope the pics come through ok.

    The myth of coax length.

MOGVZ..... nuthin for nuthin, has there been any tests or research done on different types of conductors in coax? Thinking in terms of spark plug wire technology, carbon with stranding, double shielding, etc. Not real knowledgeable, but seems a lot of concerns could be solved in this area...

    The myth of coax length.

Yup, copy all that. Since my background is automotive, esp driveability, electrical, and electronic controls im drawing on that base and using that to try and "keep up". No doubt theres a lot i need to learn about rf , ac trans, and so on.....but trying to geta step above your normal...

    The myth of coax length.

Its related to the wavelength of the frequency. When you read articles about making it the size of the antenna that is usually when talking about a compromise installation where you don't have sufficient room to run longer radials. www.k0bg.com has a wealth of information on. Its an amateur...

    The myth of coax length.

MOGVZ-Could you go farther on mobile base loaded antennas? Its my understanding that thebase load is to make up for lack of length and thereby match for frequency. Seems the size, style, mounting of antennas on different vehicles will affect output. Am i correct in assuming that mag mounts are...

Hey thanks 222bdfl, yeah, it was a used one, i emailed the seller and she said it was a telex and talked good.
