The origional 2950 has an orange display. The DX model is the newer version with a surface mount board and green display.
Just do a search on the forum here, you will find numerous threads on this radio.......not many are good either. Not sure where you heard all these great things about the Cobra 200. I would dump it as fast as you can.
Two good options. You could also check with Richard at 8541 electronics, he could probably either do it all, or you could find a radio and send it to him for a tune. I would also talk to Freecell on the forum here.
The only thing that makes a radio a "splash Box" is the tune that is done to it. With a correct alignment and conservative tune you will have a nice clean sounding radio that DOES NOT bleed 10 channels in every direction. When you listen to the wild wattage claims people make of their radio's...
Very cool Tony, it was alot easier 6-8 years ago for sure when we were into the skip cycle. When it does happen now though it's better conversation because you don't have 40 other talkers trying to get in as well.
What has anyone heard of this new operating system? A local computer person claims it has some built in ways for you to be monitored well beyond what is being done now with cookies and such. Any one know the scoop?

The new Magnum radio's seem to be selling great and sounding great. It all depends on who you talk to, and if it's a techs opinion it all depends on what they like working on. For every person who slams the Top Gun it seems there are 10 who love it. A properly tuned Magnum is hard to beat.
