I support the ARRL's proposal 101%! If hams don't start filling up more frequencies with conversations commercial interests WILL try to take them over! I know a lot of you old timers don't like it because yo believe "you must earn them" but times have changed and you need to change with them.

I got into CB radio back in the 70's and was quite active including helping to start a local CB club. In the late 80's, as CB seemed to start declining I drifted away and just spent more time listening to my shortwave radios. Although not being active in CB, I have always had one kicking around...

Yeah, I know. I've tried many speakers lately and I have settled on an old Radio Shack speaker that came with my DX150 shortwave radio. It actually sounds pretty decent since it was designed for voice frequencies. (y)

The only daily activity that I can find in my area is a small group on channel 17. They seem to have a private club because they don't seem to want to engage with new people on the channel. There is sporadic traffic on lower 38 but they also seem reluctant to let new people in the club. I tried...

Actually, what I'm interested in improving, without going into the radio, is the receive audio. I want to run the audio into an equalizer before the speaker and wonder if an audio equalizer would work well enough to spend the money on one. :unsure:
