OK all you microphone gurus out there, I have some questions for you. Would a 4-pin female yaesu FT-101 to 8-pin male Kenwood mic adapter allow me to use Kenwood mics such as The MC-50, MC-60 or the MC-85 on my Galaxy DX159 CB?
Does anyone here own a Robyn SB-520D? If so, would you measure the width of the radio and leave the answer here. I just bought one and need to make room on my radio desk for it before it arrives and cannot find any specs online.
I know that everything that you put between the radio and antenna causes some signal loss. I have an MFJ swr/watt meter in line and wonder if the loss is great enough that I should remove it? Any thoughts or experiences on this issue? o_O
I just finished mounting my 5' Firestik antenna on the toolbox in the bed of my 2009 F-150. I run my truck through the local automated car wash instead of washing it myself and the antenna must be disconnected before going through the wash. My question is:Would adding a quick disconnect to the...
Robb, I've built more than a few antennas myself, mostly for shortwave listening so I know what you mean about the satisfaction gained from DIY! I like to experiment with antennas and although sometimes my ideas don't work, it's still great fun.:D
It seems to me that I saw something on the web that someone was offering replica licenses for for a small fee. You send them your old call letters and they will print one up and send it to you. I don't remember whether the license was a direct replica of the original or something close to it...
I believe that the K plus your zip code was meant to be a temporary license to operate until you got your "Offical" license from the FCC. I remember doing that in 1977 when I applied for my license. They started that because they were so swamped by applications that it took months to receive...
I was thinking of using 102" whips for the driven element because I already have a couple of them. I had planned on using pvc electrical pipe (.75") for the director and reflector with 10 gauge wire (already have) attached to conduit. I guess I could use some aluminum tubing for the mount. I...
But I hear that it has great sounding audio. I don't know whether that is true or not, but great audio is what I'm looking for. The price for one is pretty reasonable too.
I have thought about building a dipole antenna like the one Riverman71 displayed in the dxGallery. Instead of using a couple short loaded fiberglass mobile antennas like he did, I would use two 102" stainless whips with guys to keep them from sagging. Then I would add a director and reflector...
StrangeBrew, I understand what you are saying, but I wonder what Ebay or Paypal would say if you filed a complaint saying that radio arrived DOD? After all, the seller claims that it "works great" in the listing. If they refund your purchase price, they are going to go after the seller for the...
It seems to be a growing trend in the CB listings on Ebay to say that the item "works great" but that the seller is describing it as "For parts only, no returns or refunds allowed". One of the common themes is that due to "parts swappers" they must protect themselves. I'm sure that there have...
