If you talk side band....95, it has a 6 digit freq counter and sounds great on side band if it is set up correctly. 150 watts with great receive and i have had 2 on em and loved them both!
........maybe Santa will bring me another one for Xmas!
AM monster....98. A friend got one last week...
Now it's 8 watt key with very little forward swing. If i set the key lower using L13 to around 3 watts is only swings forward a half a watt on average instead of peak meter reading. I have surfed the net and can not find any tips for this mod. Anyone out there have any ideas?
Also.......what...
Some of you may remember me talking about a local cb tech here that goes by Triple R. This is a recording i just made of him talking about the Connex 4300-300. Latter i will try and get him talking about his....125 watt 3300 HP...75 watt Cobra 29 and his 4000 watt Texas Star 667. Now he hates me...
I dont care if he walks on water! No one should do any mods to these radios!
It would be just like taking a original 1970 hemi Cuda convertible ( 1 of 7 built ) and tubing it out...putting a blower on it and painting it pink! Or taking a Collins 75A4 and putting a roger beep in it! I know...
I bet he is wondering why no one wants this and i cant believe that anyone would do this to a mark 3!

I dont have a clue as to whats been done to it. The one thing i found hard to believe is that he is seeing 300 + watts out of it. I did not think that they were capable of that much and also the key is set at 60 watts.
Also. After the radio warms up the echo sounds funky. It's hard to...
One thing about it....after talking dx with it for a few hours you would not have to turn your porch light on to find your way to the car in the morning!
>>UPDATE<<<
Well i give up! After trying once more today using the Icom 706 i still can not get side band to line up. It will receive dead on freq but it transmits 4 kHz low. Shockwave i followed the book to the letter but still the same thing so i'm done with it. The only adjustments i have...

I know Collins are very collectible but damn!
SWR increases when power is added.
The antenna is not the problem. In this case, it is the amplifier. You have already established that the antenna is properly tuned and in good working order with low SWR, except when power is applied. Assume a ham operator is on 10 meters using a solid state...
  "As for the 200GTL doing 450 watts, I believe it. I saw one do 600 watts on my Bird! I'm joking of course."
Man if your getting 600 watts out of one you must have drivers lined up for blocks with cash in hand!
I swear i have seen that same mike on eBay about a month or so ago and the way he worded the description of the mike is the same as well. There was a time not to long ago that these would bring big money but that seems to have died down.
Question.
I'm not sure how to answer this.....
"what mode are you reading the frequency on and were are you picking up the signal to read the frequency"
I'm using 2 different frequency counter's that are both 6 digit...both are the kind that you screw the coax from the radio into then out...
