    Common Mode Current Question

I don't think so. I'm not a coax/antenna genius, but from what I've read... I don't think so. If you make or purchase a CMC be sure it's closest to the antenna vs. just before it goes in the house (weird stuff happens in that placement).

If you could create a cool new CB product what would it be?

    Updated, thicker aluminum Avanti Astro-Beam

If you could create a cool new CB product what would it be?

As long as it doesn't hook me up with my crazy ex-wife from the period, I'd go along with that.

10 and 11 meter noise floor insane!

And if there's not a mallet to knock on the pole to see if your noise changes, be inventive... ;)

Why are mobile CB radios stuck in the 70s?

My memory may be fuzzy, but I seem to remember getting a Sears am/ssb mobile w/o the mic, which had one of those 5-pin "half moon" connectors like the Rat Shack radios did. So I borrowed one of my RS mics and as I recall, it worked w/o changing anything. There's probably more info on Rat Shack...

    "idiot" blocking up ch 19.

I do the same. When 38 becomes so congested that it's a wall of voices, I usually go up to 39/40 or down to 36/37. I'll then check the even channels (27.390, 27.400, etc.) Otherwise it's go above 40, because the local SSBers can't communicate between each other in the same town, so they move to...

What's going to happen to your stuff when you shove off?

CB's to my sons. What they don't want they can sell on eBay. Ham gear goes to my elmer who'll try and get the best price for my wife.

    CB Etiquette

It's a sign of the times. Some parts of 80m, 40m, or certain 2m repeaters are easily just as bad, or worse.

    Why do people...

Yep, 1. Some of it is nostalgia. I've bought several this year just for that. 2. Many have that "COOL" look to them as well. Something that most new radios don't have. 3. The older ones are fairly easy to modify/repair. 4. Yellow table gear makes potential sellers think they have a gold mine...

went to my last hamfest yesterday

I went to 3 this year, here in Texas (had to miss the Fall Belton 'Fest last weekend though), but prices by sellers were fair, I sold about 1/2 of what I brought to each one, and I'm looking forward to the one just down the road from me next March on the 4th!

    Electret handheld mics

The stock mics (electret) do sound better. Even when I switched to Dynamic on my McKinley, the Dynamic mic still sounded bad, but I hate the way the new mics feel when holding them. I'm thinking of buying a kit off eBay to pull the Dynamic out and put an electret in, for the way it feels, and...

    Anytone At-6666 Microphone plug wiring

It's for the electret mic element. The plus 3 only needs pwr for the amp circuit. You could tap the center pin and try to replace the battery.

How do I buy a Randy III in the USA?

No. It's an export model. The best you can get in the U.S. is the Randy II (am/fm/40ch) for about $165

    Cobra 2000 resurrection

In PS cap replacement I usually pick "General", most other "audio", and many times it's "Whatever I can afford".
