Another old post. Yep, I know. But, I'm hooked.
Just wanted to say that next to my 102 SS Whip, my Sirio Performer is the bast antenna I own. Out of about 30 or so different ones hahaha
Not sure what ya call it but, it swings, forward modulates forward between 100 to 120 watts or so.
I don't know if that's "PEP", or not.
I ain't real smart. Hahaha
Not real sure what PEP is.
I'm very impressed with the Almighty Antennas 63" Mobile CB Antenna w magnetic mount. All I've done to it is change the stock coax to LMR-240, (Like I do to all my mag mounts), and it has performed very well. Shot quite of bit of DX right here in the States on it as well. Was a great buy, imho.
Sorry. I know this is an old thread but I have to ask: Where do you guys find these "6 inch springs?"
I have searched the internet and CAN NOT find one. It's ok though, I use a heavy duty barrel spring with a 2 inch quick disconnect on top and get excellent SWR readings on my 102 SS Whip mounted...
Another older thread. These, many of them, are very interesting. Especially since I've never read through them yet. I too like the silver load. Better than a firestick, imo. I have a 5 footer and it is a great antenna. Low SWR and great receive as well as transmit. I won't run it in freezing...
I'll probably be made fun of for this but, (Actually, I'm sure I will), anyway, I have five mag mounts including 2 NMO mag mounts. I cut LMR-240 to exact quarter wave lengths figuring velocity factor for the times microwave LMR-240 and use 27.185 as center in my calculations. Every one of them...
Lol! Another "Older", thread! Find me the GOLDEN SHOVEL!
Anyway, I recently bought 35 ft of the DX Engineering "low loss", RG8X and it is definitely some good coax. I recommend it if anyone is looking for RG8X.
I found this, from DX-antennas.com
WHAT LENGTH?
As mentioned the best length is the shortest, in this way the loss due to the cable is the lowest.
There can be one advantage by extending the length of the cable:.
A HALF WAVE coax cable or ANY multiple (1, 1½, 2 wavelength) length of this will...
I just made me very first contact across the pond this morning in my pickup sitting at my usual DX location.
With the "307", in Yorkshire England on channel 37 lsb.
Using my Galaxy DX 94HP and the Almighty Antennas 63" Mobile CB Antenna w magnetic mount.
My first contact ever, across the pond...
I had one of those Tram 3500's also and was an excellent antenna. Low SWR and a very good talker. Something happened and it finally got full of rain, water, and corroded really bad so I trashed it. If I ever bought another, I'd seal it anywhere it could possibly get water in it. Good luck with it!
Older thread but, I have the Larsen NMO27B on a 5 inch Tram Mag Mount. Only thing done was replacing original coax that came with the mag mount with LMR-240. Dead center on top of my old extended cab pickup it does an outstanding job. For it's height I'm really impressed with it.
Just my 2 cents...
I found this on the Golden Rod Antenna:
One to two S-Unit increase in signal strength over base and top loaded antennas.
Broadband match with SWR less than 1.5:1 across all US & UK channels and well into the 10 meter amateur band.
Almost 3x power multiplication (4.75 dBi).
12 KW power handling...
