at one point I did the same with my old Cobra 146GTL. rubber between the radio and mount and mount and car, you can go thicker from mount to car. but it does help, the 2950 has been in 12 cars. including two diesel 4x4 with super stiff suspension. both radios still work great
cut up the tubes. double up piece to about 1x1inch, burn a hole and put the mount screws through it. same on the mount to car. then I did not over tighten the screws. gave it some shock absorbing quality
