    Lmr 400 inside mast ?

I max 2000 isn't a 1/2 wave. not sure about that, Sirio did ok centre feeding and getting gainmaster erect, not to mention balancing and choking it as well so it doesn't need radials. they also isolated it from mast too. but hey, what do us Europeans know about antennas? Small note, matching...

    Lmr 400 inside mast ?

Money would be wiser invested in a good 5/8 wave with at least 1/8 wave radials or vector 4000, and then if you want add lmr 400, at least that way you'll get the benefit of the lmr400's lower loss. running it down the tube protects cable from weather and if right length tube could act as a...

    Super Scanner coax

102" isn't a 1/4 wave in coax, or an antenna for that matter, otherwise people wouldn't have to use shorted springs to make up the shortfall, should be 108" which is approx 3/8 of a wavelength in .66 velocity factor coax depending on frequency. would be just as easy to do it with any coax as...

    Super Scanner coax

Manual states 3 coax lengths are 29', i think that's a misprint and should say 9ft, 9ft at cb frequencies in rg58 (.66 vel factor) would be 3/8 of a wavelength, whereas 29 feet wouldn't be an exact fraction, 27 ft would at 2 1/8 wave. the droop on cables and boom size suggest 9ft is spot on

lol, I know what you like Eddie, i'm a huge fan of 1/4 wave gp's of all forms, even the humble uk cut down thunderpole with 3 full size radials and basically a 1.5m mobile top was a significant performer in its day, i believe the starduster, top one, astroplane and humble horizontal radial gp...

I've had Stardusters and clones, all were fantastic antennas and Sirio version is still on e bay over here as is their top one. may pick both up at some point, have a few things to get first, i think the astroplane is a shortened version of the starduster with cap hat making up the rest of top...

    TESTING RF TRANSISTORS

I've seen that too with vom meter, could it possibly be to do with internal emitter ballasting. Some interesting info in this: http://www.nxp.com/documents/handbook/RF_Fundamentals.pdf 1998 Apr 09 15 Philips...

Conor I'm assuming you got them at knights as only place in uk that I know that sells them, i've got a handful in the bags next to real quality 5mm Greenpar ps gland ones, which are proper class. I don't know what Doug or one of his assistants most likely told you Conor, but they are the...

    coax

Why not, a couple of connectors and your sorted, not as if you have to buy it, may as well get the use out it, and if you use uhf or vhf even better used there. Alternatively send me it as i can only dream of using it and i'll put it too good use ;) , lol

Can you explain to me the difference between RG8 AND RG213/U, as I was led to believe when the US military redesignated their cables RG213/U became the new Mil-c-17 spec that replaced RG8 which i believe is no longer a mil spec, infact neither is Mil-c-17 now as I believe that has been...

I'm loving that 30 Db of Audio Gain, can't help wondering if Kale borrowed some of that shit and sprinkled it liberally on the new Bad to the Bone (LMAO, but not as good as a 30 buck 1/4 wave whip) Predators ? Love how they highlight the word TRUE so often, cause its ironic they are using it...

How does modelling antennas help us

We have locations here very close to sea front with 200m hills right behind, I can work dx from both, but there's been many a time the mobile couldn't hear skip at sea level yards from the water, yet climb that hill its booming in, both have clear take offs to the west and NW/SW and the high...

    Best base antenna for skip

In my experience that is the best compromise of all, A 3 Element beam with a good 5/8 wave above it, I see very little interaction, and as dx signals can have polarity skewed in ionosphere sometimes the vertical hears what the beam don't even though source signal came from a horizontal beam...

    CB or Export?

If you like Uniden 980SSB look to the export President Grant 2, if you want to make a few Bob, buy an RCI 29xx series and write taxi on side of truck :) lol

    CB or Export?

TBH I wouldn't buy any of them, and if you want a cb / ham rig, a few dollars more or less in some cases would pick you up a nice 2nd hand kenwood ts50 or icom ic 706 mk1, both have 100 mem channels to put CB band in, both give 100w, variable in the 706's case or 10/50/100w in ts50 case, and...

Yeah thanks mate, it always pays to ask seller what else he has, sadly there was only one avanti left or I'd have bought me old mucker Bob 85 one too, as I know like me we've both been trying to get one for a few years and last seller I traced with them and Sigma 4's wouldn't post to UK...

Just a thought: 3 10m Fibreglass Masts A long. (Depending on spacing you want for elements hinged halfway 2x2 or bigger, 3 holes drilled in it to accept masts, Add a T2LT Driven to centre mast and 2 other masts with a wire refector on one and director on the other. 2 circular block's one...
