Not exactly sure what you are asking.
Around here in Seattle many "bootlegger" Cbers had old ham gear that had 11 meters already in it. Johnson Ranger, Viking Valiant, Heathkit DX-100 were most commonly used by a handful of CBers. Then the Yaesu FT-101 came out and the game changed. I worked in...
I have used RT Systems software for a couple other rigs in the past. Since it is radio specific it is very well thought out for that particular rig from what I have seen. It is reasonably priced I think too. It is less cumbersome than using something like CHIRP which is designed for a large host...
I am sorta close at 51 years. Know of a lot of hams licensed much longer than I have been but yeah they are dying off to be sure!
Myself, I am 70...YIKES!!
11 meters as a ham band was not used much. It was a shared band (tertiary use) with some other concerns. Primarily medical equipment like diathermy which could wipe out much of the band when used at a nearby hospital. It was not frequency stable and pretty broadband in 11 meters so would move up...
The LSB convention on CB dates back to when there were only 23 channels and SSB was all on channel 16.
Form what I remember LSB was just a bit further away from channel 17 than the USB was, and a lot further from channel 15 since there was the RC frequency between them. So less overall adjacent...
Not only that but you will be able to hear far better if it is up high as possible or practical.
If you can't hear it you can't work it no matter the angle of radiation or power level you use.
From a more practical sense, you put up the best antenna you can and live with it sometimes. You may...
There are two Twilight Zone episodes that mention ham radio that I can think off.
"The Monsters are due on Maple Street" is the other one.
"Black leather Jackets" is the one already mentioned.
I like to go back a few years before I was interested in ham or CB radio to see what rigs were offered. Often I have never seen them before at all.
Some of those rigs were quite expensive back in the day.

Nicely done. Much easier to use than other catalog archives I have seen. Even goes to the table of contents directly if you want...
It would be nice for all the guys that have older 23 channel SSB gear they would like to use.
Just start populating channel 16. For local contacts at least, just move down there to chat as an alternate channel to use.
One thing that can be nice using a VTVM for alignment is it can be easier to follow
a smooth analog meter movement than it is a digital display with numbers bouncing all around the place as you make adjustments.
Give it a try into a dummy load and see how it goes. That is always the first step in troubleshooting, If you don't have on, now would be a good time to get one! They are always good to have nearby when things go bonkers!
The power supply shouldn't have any effect on the SWR per se. What power...
KCS-4000 from 1969 or 70. Not sure, would have to dig it out and look. I do still have it. I keep all that stuff.
Then there were the REALLY old calls that were the first issued 11 meter CB licenses for a short while like 7Q2535 or 5W1934 for example, or something very similar.
They gave those...
This is from K1TTT technical reference. It is what I used for making a coax choke. The larger article elaborates on this and is much more technical but these were his findings in conclusion.
It can be a bugger to wind RG-213 on a 4 inch piece of PVC but it can be done with good plastic cable...
I had a commercially made Common mode choke some years ago. I first placed it just outside the shack and there was little difference. Then I added a long piece of coax and set the choke way out in the yard and it did make some difference but the added coax may have done that, not sure. I...
Not without knowing the serial number. Those mk2G's below a certain serial number cannot be repaired if the PA stage fails. I understand they need a very expensive mainboard replacement which is not hardly worth it.
I would check the voltages on the rear terminal and compare them to what they should be for other CDE 4 wire rotors. iI would give you a better idea of if it is compatable with a different rotor or not. Just because the control box has presets doesn't necessarily mean that the rotor itself is...
