    GoldenRod 45 A+ antenna

Well...It's going to be mounted in the exact same spot as my 10K, so the only real difference will be the height of the GR45 is almost a foot shorter than the10K so guess we'll see how much "Height" place a difference... Second thing I'm going to be watching is to see if the tuning changes much...

    GoldenRod 45 A+ antenna

Got it today, and put it together and got'er tuned...One thing I did notice right off the bat, was how broad-banded the thing is...Tuned really well too, once I figured out how to do it... As for quality of the antenna...I'm less than thrilled about the way it's put together...IMO it's pretty...

    Carl Built

Hoppers are clean little boxs...I run a 1x2 Hopper Built in my Tacoma.... Just wondering...wasn't Carl the one who use to stick the glob of hot glue inside his boxs when he was building the XForces?... wonder if he still does that...if it was him?

    Best mobile CB/10M radio available

And with the front-firing speaker, it really don't need a external speaker...The speaker inside the McKinley is allot better than what comes in most radios now days. I already had a external speaker installed in my truck from a previous set-up, so I just left it...It really doesn't need one...

    GoldenRod 45 A+ antenna

Going home from work yesterday, near downtown, a car passed me with one similar stuck up on the roof...It looked to be about 3' tall, and all aluminum...The coil looked to be a little bigger in diameter than the ones I have seen on the Goldenrods...Not sure who made it either, just thought it...

    Best mobile CB/10M radio available

I think the 2004 tacoma is pretty much the same as the 2001 on the inside...I have a 2001 tacoma and installed a President McKinley in the dash...very easy, and makes for a clean install...(just have to replace the factory 2DIN stereo with a aftermarket 1DIN stereo and then there's room for the...

    GoldenRod 45 A+ antenna

Well...broke down and decided to give the GR45 a try...Should be here towards the end of the week according to George at Lightning...Specks say it's 56" tall, if thats true then I should be able to run it where I have my Predator 10K right now...Like to see if half the claims they say about this...

    Antenna height

There is a difference between having something like a A99 up at 30' vs. the same antenna up at 50'... Couple of guys I talk to daily both live just two streets apart from each other, and both run about the same amount of power... One has his A-99 up on a 30' pole, the other is on a 50'...

WOW! NOW THAT'S A TEXAS STAR!

All that is, is two Texas Star sweet-sixteen boards tied together...They were around in the 80's...most didn't survive the 80's either which is why you don't see vary many...Most burned-up decades ago.

CB channel usage across the US while traveling

Channel 9 for the most part is just another channel now...It hasn't been monitored in decades by emergency services...Every now and then you "might" run across a wrecker driver that has his radio set to pick up channel 9, but they are the exception more than anything...You will come more hearing...

    EF Johnson CB Radios

One I had was probably a Cobra or GE...just know I didn't have it long before getting one with a digital readout.

    EF Johnson CB Radios

Can't remember now what brand it was, but I remember the first 40 channel radio I bought, the manufacture had managed to stick all 40 numbers on the 23 channel dial...The numbers were so small, so even tho there was a light behind the dial shining on whatever channel you were suppose to be on...

    EF Johnson CB Radios

Exactly. All the manufactures swamped with 23 channel radios so instead of scrapping them, they just modified the 23's to get 40 channels, and on radios that had the rotary dial they just crammed numbers and slash marks to get all 40 on a dial originally designed for 23.

    EF Johnson CB Radios

Makes two of us...always wondered what they were thinking when they decided it was a good idea to stick the Mic jack on the back of the radio?(n)

    EF Johnson CB Radios

I had a Johnson Viking 4740 not that long ago that I bought off ebay...It was a NOS radio...Personally I wasn't impressed with it... Decent receive, but a little muted....Transmit IMO was about average out of the box...I never had anything done to the one I had as for as P&T go's...May have...
