If I were to assume that this was a real design, which I highly doubt, my only response would be that it's a good thing they've got such a nice ship 'cause their planes suck compared to ours.
Pretty slick looking design though, far-fetched as it may be.
If there is such a mod I'd also like to hear it. If you leave any of the dual-band Wouxuns on scan for any length of time the backlight kills the battery very fast. I had to turn it off completely.
Actually I do a lot of work with lasers, my company primarily does large-scale laser shows for concerts/raves but we've just started prototyping some medical lasers. These were a couple extras that we ended up with after the initial prototypes were finished. Many Carbon-Dioxide lasers use...
Check these bad boys out (just got 'em in the mail a couple weeks ago):
MRF6VP11KH, 50V, 1kW CW or Pulsed, 10:1 SWR handling (so not as rugged as the new "ruggedized" versions such as what Morse123 posed above) Class AB. They're part of the new VHV6 (very high-voltage 6th generation) FET line...
Sorry to have avoided the actual topic of the thread, it wasn't intentional. I agree with you, it's not possible to refurbish a transistor.. I wonder about the sellers, and whether they might have cleaned them up or if they just felt that "refurbished" was a better description (or more...
Been working a lot and getting lots of gigs.. progress has been slow, but I've got the filters tuned (I just mounted them one by one on a good ground surface and hit them with a signal) and I developed a plan for constructing the free-standing filter set as a whole:
There will be a copper bus...
Actually, I just received two of these from Dealextreme.com: Replacement Antenna for Kenwood and More Walkie Talkies (144~430MHz 10W Max) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme
The listing states that the antenna is a Nagoya, but I received a pair of Diamond RH701. I'm sure this is because Nagoya makes...
Based on the specs from the manufacturer's website, 136-174MHz VHF and 400-480MHz UHF is the maximum for the 2m/70cm version, and 136-174MHz and 216-280MHz for the 2m/1.25m version.
True.. my post was addressing a post by jessiejamesdallas who was in turn responding to a link posted by Audioshockwav for SD1446 transistors, which are made by ST. I was off-topic from the original transistor in question.
That transistor looks used to me from the marks around the mounting...
The core metal may be brass, but according to a very good reference text I have here from Motorola (Radio Frequency Transistors: Principles and Practical Applications by H. Granberg and N. Dye), which is the only reference I have since I don't have the necessary stuff to test gold, ceramic...
That looks like it's for a quantity of 10.. $39.80 per sd1446 still sounds a tad high to me though..
They do have a bit of gold in them.. the tabs are gold plated, as are most of the internal bonds and traces.
FTLOG please share the gritty details with those of us who have no clue what you're talking about.. seems like something I'd appreciate, but I've got no idea who or what you're emulating.
Pretty much every single amateur radio made in the last 20 years includes some sort of scan function.
That antenna seems quite decent.. reviews I've seen are good as well as the price.
Ain't that the truth.. I'm living that dream right now. I'm not necessarily poor, but my hobby budget is.
And honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way at this point. I feel like I'm gaining an understanding of radio that a person who goes out and buys all ready-made commercial gear doesn't have.
Personally I use a Kenwood TM-271A 2-meter radio in my mobile. It's very affordable, plenty powerful (60W) and very rugged. In fact, it's more like a commercial (police, fire, etc) radio than a ham radio in terms of ruggedness and appearance, very sturdy. It is also capable of nearly continuous...
Don't know if it's been posted here, but I just ran across this little gem:
Amateur Radio 10 Meter Hand Held Transceiver AM/FM/SSB | eBay
Kinda pricey, but it does SSB.. not a VHF HT though.
It's a little off-topic, but I've got 2 of the Chinese HTs and in the past I've had quite a few from the big 3. I like the Chinese ones quite a lot because of the value offered in particular. I have a Quansheng TG-UV2 and a Wouxun KG-UV2D. I like the Quansheng best, it just has a better heft and...
