    Yaesu FTM-350 APRS Review

I also found E03 (Range Limit) filter set to 1-10 miles helpful. Now the screen doesn't get hammered with so many beacons. Obviously it can be opened up when necessary, but sitting here in Oregon I really didn't need to know some guy in an 18 wheeler was eastbound on 80 out of Reno doing...

Here's the picture, my dash lights are turned down about 50%.

    Yaesu FTM-350 Review

I forgot to mention, the GPS is installed on the control head and works great down on my steering column and pushed up against the gauges.

    Yaesu FTM-350 Review

Ken, I will post a picture of mine which is located on the dash and has the deepest color of red selected. The control head speakers work great in my pickup, no problems hearing over road noise, stereo, other radio. The external speaker jack in on the chassis, and I carry a 6' stereo...

    Yaesu FTM-350 lock-up problems

I echo K8WAW's thanks and appreciation for all the 350 review effort!! I guess I better box mine up and send it down, I'll still pout for the two week turn around.

    Yaesu FTM-350 lock-up problems

No external speaker, using the control head for both left and right. However, the right side is APRS nad turned down completely. The left is my primary conversation or monitoring side.

    Yaesu FTM-350 lock-up problems

DoctorDave I had the weak/scratchy problem, but only on the left side. Trying to send the audio out to the stereo in the truck didn't correct it. The tech told me to reset it and it corrected it but wiped out my programming. That was a month or so back and its been fine up to a day or so...

    Yaesu FTM-350 lock-up problems

I'm little surprised Yaesu didn't pour on the coals to fix it or send you an imediate replacement since your review threads are being closely watched worldwide. They could do an autopsy on their own time while your back on the road testing and posting!

    Yaesu FTM-350 APRS Review

Only thing I'd suggest you check the setting E16 Data Band Select. The default is 1:APRS Sub Band and I switched to R-Band Fix (in your case L-Band Fix). In the default setting, if you have APRS set as the main band, it will transmit on the sub band on whatever freq you have it set on. In my...

    Yaesu FTM-350 Review

They better hurry, I've been looking forward to your reviews! If they don't want to tick off a handful of new owners and prospective buyers, maybe they should let Jackie go for an outing and drive the unit back to you. She seems to be great at customer service!

    Yaesu FTM-350 lock-up problems

I am running 144.390 on the right side as a memory channel sending beacons every 2 mins. On the left side I switch between 146.520 (memory) and a local repeater (also memory), but predominately on the call channel. So far I haven't suffered a lock up. Maybe I'll let it run overnight and see...

Yaesu FTM-350 GPS & Navi Video Review

Thanks for the super review, now I have to try to slip out and give it a test today! I carry a Magellan Crossover in my rig so the 350 was going to be a backup since it didn't have mapping anyway.

    Yaesu FTM-350 lock-up problems

The unit has been flawless since the first hiccup. I have basically kept the aprs on the sub band and transmitting when the radio is operating.

    Yaesu FTM-350 lock-up problems

I couldn't find that ability either. You could use the mini stereo to mini mono adapter and feed your speaker wiith the side you want to hear. Then you'd hear your main from the speaker and the sub from the head, but the main would still come over the control head. Then you could use the...

    Yaesu FTM-350 lock-up problems

This was basically the same problem I had, the volume was low and with a slight scratch compared to the opposite side. The stranger anomaly was it only on one frequency where the problem was apparent. I hated to do the full reset due to the programming, but it corrected the issue. The bright...

    Yaesu FTM-350 lock-up problems

I left mine on all day with APRS on and on the simplex freq, used it a few times. No lock ups, however I filtered down the beacon receive to a 10 mile radius.

    Yaesu FTM-350 Review

Uh oh...something isn't right. I've only had mine on with APRS functioning for an hour or less. When I leave today I'll turn it on and keep the radio on all day if I'm able and let it beacon more frequently to see if anything happens. I will flip the other band over to a simplex freq too...

    Yaesu FTM-350 Review

Did you have to do full reset or was just powering it down able to get it back in operation? Also I noticed on RT Systems website they expect to have the programming software for the VX-8AD done in about 4 weeks and the FTM-350 shortly after that.

    Yaesu FTM-350 APRS Review

Moleculo Looks like you had the answer, it was the E16 Data Band Select. The default is the sub band for transmitting the APRS signal. So if you have 144.390 on the right band and push the dial knob to make it the main band the APRS will be sent out on whatever freq is programmed in on the...
