I set the bias voltage. It was set a bit high. Dead key on low is 1 watt and on high its 4 watts.
The AM Mod amp transistor is still getting really hot. Even at a dead key it heats up to the point you can't touch it.
Looking for the full alignment info for mosfet general lee. One of the local hack shops had their hands on it and its pretty screwed up!
Also was wondering why the voltage regulator is getting extremely hot?
I'm thinking someone took out the diode for the modulation but I'm not sure where it would be? Adjusting VR5 does nothing.
Also it showing about 3 kcs high on freq. How can I get it back to where it needs to be?
Like i said before my buddy ordered it for me from some place in Michigan. I couldn't tell you the name of the place but the radio is new and hes been dealing with the place for years.
All I need really need is the alignment procedure and I would be good. Seem to think that's all it really needs.
Just picked one of these radios up.
So far so good. Only thing that worries me is the output seems a little low on SSB. Only getting about 15 watts out talking normally and about 20-25 with a whistle.
I had one as a first base antenna. It blew the final out of my radio the swr was so high the first time I transmitted into it.
Lowest I could get the SWR was 1.7 on either end of the regular 40 and about a 1.5 on 20
I called pro comm about it and they sent me another one but neither worked...
If you take a direct hit a lightning arrester wont always save your equipment.
