What the difference between the other tubes listed and a sweep tube? Besides gain of course.I have always had an interest in tube amps and wanted to learn so this is some great reading!
Has anyone ever used one of the heil replacement elements for the D104? I see they make these and was wondering how well they work? The D104s are geting hard to come by as we all know and alot of the ones that I come acrost have bad elements. I see some guy is selling replacement ones on ebay...
Yeah should have mentioned what hotrod noted there earlier, you should never have to trim a 102" whip. You may also want to try it with an without the spring to see what matches better but when it comes to matching the thing ground is a key factor in how it will match. Also as W5LZ mention...
I did not get a chance to test it on any other antenna yet becouse the last time it blew I did not have my maco. waiting a week or so here to get some more trasistors for the radio then it will be on the maco. Can't wait to get it up and going! Anyway the second time I blew the driver I had my...
Im just curious did the output go to nothing? one day its working the next day its not? If so sounds like the first problem I had with mine. The driver took a shit. had an earlier discussion on mosfets on the forum but here is my problem when I was running my antron it poped drivers because of a...

maybe that why i had to do a complete syttem restore on my computer? Anyway I run NOD32 anitvirus and it seems to catch more stuff than norton did.
one guy around here has a magnum S3-80 I beleive thats what it is. Anyway has those ERF2030s in it and he has blown them countless times. Ill take a 1969 over one anyday.(not bashing your mod or magnum)
And I thought I was one of the few people around my age(18 ) that had an interest in radio. learn something new every day! Also love the mag mount on the stove thing. Using various things as ground planes for mobile antennas. Been there done that.
1/2 watt may be all you need. Thats how much I drive my Jumbo with(same two tubes) and it will key about 25 watts and swing 100-125 on low 150-225 on high.
lots of great information here guys! The only thing i worry about is one of the guys i talked to said crossing the switch common with the audio ground would couse problems.
I run the repeater around here sometimes but not a whole lot. Can hit alot of them on my base though. Use the radio for MURS mainly(yeah Im a CBer I know) more people there though and more laid back then 2 meters.
