For my twice a year interstate drive (the whole reason I was in Buffalo!), the Wilson will do me. For my short hops around the city, I mostly use the radio for the weatherband. I visit a LOTTA hospitals in my work, and I forgot it was up there once, upon entering a parking garage. ONCE. :(...
I've had mine in my DD Jeep for 2 years now, with no issue. With a little RM203 and a 4' Wilson silver load, I was able to talk from Buffalo to west TX on a sunny afternoon in October last year!
Don't get to talk on it often or play with the SSB, so that's the best I've done so far. I'm...
Because plenty of numbnuts live around me, it's why I've gone to QD's on my antennas. When I'm not physically IN the vehicle, the antennas are stored.

A gutter tie-down is no guarantee that WON'T happen, but it doesn't hurt. ;)
Here's the one on my RC in my avatar.
But I notice newer trucks like yours, no longer have gutters!!!
The folk I find on ch.19 around here in GREAT numbers, are the 6 wheelers!!! Lotta dump/rock/coal trucks still running around Pittsburgh, and THEY chat it up on 19!!!
Workin' goooooooood....
It was actually an impulse purchase - no plug when I bought it, so it was sitting in a drawer gathering dust. When I got eh Uniden, with it's odd number of pins, it seemed the perfect time to wire up the Astatic for it!
I use that combo in my DD Jeep - no one...
