I worked Alabama and Georgia today from Western Washington but it was threading the needle.

I'd go Anytone 6666. Mine has worked most states from Seattle, with a 5/8 mag mount Sirio. It has also been far more rugged than most Chinese stuff I've made the mistake of buying.
