I've been told in another thread that it is nothing special - I understand he has no "magic" that any other antenna may have it just seems pretty "tight" and built with quality.
I don't have rights to broadcast on most of the bands yet, just a tech, but I am eyeing this one!
Hey all!
I do a lot of radio topic watching on YouTube.. I bet you do too!!
I came across this British amateur, "DX Commander" channel and he's actually pretty damn good. Anyway, not sure if you've heard of his products but this antenna has me thinking...
Yes, this idea has been floated and I'd be lying if I didn't spend a bit of time every week thinking of how to best lay out that sheeting under the hood, roof.
Maybe the dream isn't dead. (n)
OK. Good stuff.
I've given up pretty much on a Corvette (figures my two loves of the fiberglass wonder and radio since childhood are near mutually exclusive).
I've posted about the Corvette specifically but wanted to ask without poisoning the well so to speak.
So, now I'm obsessing on a late...
So, I'm trying to plan a bit on a project.
My questions are:
1. When an antenna on a car uses the steel in it is it the body panels or the steel in the chassis or both?
2. Does aluminum body panels work as well as steel?
That will be good to start off with!
Thanks,
TheRATT
I can't say who, but I know someone who regularly ran 100W+ through one of those light blue Crossbow jobs - because he'd been told they don't handle power.
Ran it for years!
Now it is someone else's and still runnin'!
I would like to apply to the PPP and request a move at least 100 miles from Seattle, proper. Preferably enough room on the property for an all band vertical!
Oh, thank you sir! It is mostly just stories from life along with some really bad rants that I just lay down and don't edit!
I'm hoping to finish up a post on driving and rules of the road soon and hope it makes most everyone laugh or at least nod their heads!
Well, here are some old school pics of my my bitchin' 1978 Z/28.
It is a 350, M-21 4-speed, tilt steering car. 3.73:1 diff made it a rocket ship off the line.
The radio (my first custom install) is a Cobra 148 with a K40 trunk mount. This radio was bone stock and back in the late 90s I worked...
Hello!
I'm a Commodore 64 kid so the tech side of of computers and such I'm very good at. Understanding why a broadband modem chip in an SDR box is good I'm not so good at!!
Hello, friends! I finally got my Tech license and am studying for my general.
I was wondering if anyone is running an SDR Transciever? Just saw this one over on my pal's website:

I'm...
I can't bring myself to sell my Drake either and it is not as valuable. I lusted after a couple Drake radios back in the late 90s they were just outta reach. Tell him to keep it and enjoy!
The Drake is a GREAT find. I found an SW3 (I think that is an R8?) been looking for one of those!
Drakes were the last of the great Made in the USA receivers (I think they still were on 2011, mine is a 1998).
I have two power supplied, one 50A (TekPower) and one 75A (MFJ), both switching.
Anything is suspect. I have yet to put a choke on my antenna coming in - that is my next stop barring any other ideas!
