I finally called another Service Rep today... And the Gentleman was very pleasant on the phone. I told that the Amp had been shipped with a busted tube and that the Box it was shipped in, the outer one, looked like someone had rolled it down the stairs to Fed-Ex...
They said they would get a...
Yeah... anything that costs any kind of money I don't get from there... There's always that one time even the guy with the good ratings could be a bad seed.
And after this KLV linear, if I can't do buisness with someone I can walk in and talk with I'm not buying it.
Ok... I guess he SENT me a PM bout it 'cause he had nothing better do... It had to do with switching out coax and having not checked it... Anytime you make a change in your system it's always best to check.
Nope... Tnx Carl... I already read enough reviews... The book I had didn't have much info, What it didn't have you guys opened the doors on..
We'll leave that one on the shelf!
It won't be bad... I was just trying to make the point that no matter what you make for installation... Always check the SWR...
A guy in another forum took out a piece of Coax and put a much longer in thinking it would do nothing... Until it blew his amp up.. He stated that since his SWR was...
H&Y will not warranty Tubes or Transistors... And that's where the whole problem originated... Is Because when I received the unit the Driver tube was already busted in it.
They told me I would have to send it to Syracuse,Ny for warranty work, I would have to pay the shipping, any tube...
I think we'll pass... I thought maybe with as good as the Mag S-9 has been that a base station would have followed in it's footsteps... But I guess not at this time anyway.
They say for Mobile work that Coax length is optimum... I always stayed with 18' ... Some people swear up and down it's true, some people say it don't matter...
Ultimately no matter what type of installation... It's always good to use that SWR Meter to make sure...
Well I can't say I wasn't warned... The KLV 1000 turned into a total flop... Now it's at the point of little or no help. Started out with one bad tube and escalated from there...
We had it limping along for a couple days, than it took a crap... Went south...
I'm at the point I have had...
I seen that the price wasn't very high on them... And that the output power was minimal.
I am trying to find a good Export Base Radio that will work well with the KLV 1000 if I ever get it working again...
I am probably leaning toward the RCI Ranger 2980...
Ok... I havn't seen a post anywhere on these... I was just wondering if anyone had one or had the scoop on them...
I was looking at them today in the h&y Book... But that is the first I have seen of them.
