    tennessee walker

I'm not really surprised by the output. I had a John Boy with a single 250b. It would easily make 750 pep with a cobra 148 driving it. 250 watts of drive seems like 10 times too much.

FCC will take away another ham band in 2021

I agree with you but this seems more like the kid that didn't want to play with a toy until someone else picked it up.

FCC will take away another ham band in 2021

I'd like to see an honest pole of who actually uses this band and see some pictures of the equipment. I did a bio search on QRZ for 9cm and only came up with 67 matches. Only two callsigns were from the USA.

    Ya'll plannin to mailin vote?

I went this morning. It took about an hour from the time I parked to the time I left. They had drive up voting for the elderly and handicapped.

    Why?

Good stuff Andy. (y) SDR dongles are cheap...beer money cheap. The sdrplay really nice for the price. Using an SDR really helped me wrap my brain around this.

    Dodging FCC??

Jerry was posting on QRZ earlier this year and is still has a license. Captain Dave lost his license, but he was calling out the FCC and daring them to do something.

    Dodging FCC??

Important license holders that is. The amateur bands are as bad as CB these days. Deadkeys, music, sound effects and the whole 9 yards. I think some buy a cw key just to screw with people.

    Dodging FCC??

I don't blame him for not building. There's no money in it. Fixing stuff pays better. Replace bad pills, check the tuning and send it back home. His website has said he's not taking orders for years. I don't know if the letter had anything to do with that.... I don't remember if his YouTube...

    That's a clean build. (y)

    Why?

That is correct. Listening to usb on lsb or vice versa is just a garbled up mess. If someone were using 38 lsb you would have to listen on 27.382 usb to have their signal in your passband, but it wouldn't be intelligible.

    The tower is up!!

I recognize that look. Our cat uses it on me. He also likes to steal small parts when I'm not looking. :ROFLMAO:

    The tower is up!!

The dog: "What the hell is he doing now?"

    Why?

Plenty of people are that dumb. Notch filters make it really easy to ignore them. There has always been a problem with ssb operators on HF getting too close to an AM qso for various reasons. SDR receivers have a few features to deal with this, but if you have an old receiver switching to ssb works.

    Why?

Yes. This is a good trick to use when you are getting interference from an adjacent frequency.

    Why?

If decent equipment is being used there can be 2 different conversations going on on the same channel if one party is using usb and the other lsb. Say you're on ch 20 (27.205) using upper sideband. With 300 to 3000 hz audio bandwidth the signal will occupy 27.2053 to 27.208. On lsb the signal...

    Ya'll plannin to mailin vote?

It's been a mess. Dallas county had issues with their envelopes also. The barcode was being scanned by the postal service by mistake and the ballots were being returned to sender. They had the same issue with the same envelopes on the last election. They sent a memo to the post office and all is...

    Ya'll plannin to mailin vote?

I heard something about the mail in ballots in Tarrant county today. There is an internet rumor that the barcode on the envelope could be used by identity thieves. People are writing over the barcodes to protect their identity and it's screwing up the process. They said the ones they've...

All my meters swing forward, receiver swings backwards

Mine was only a single tube amp. It didn't have a grid current meter so I had no idea they pulled so much current. I did install a grid current meter when I put in the pair of 8877s. I was going to use a pair of GS35b in my HF amplifier but decided to go with a 3000 instead. I think they're...

All my meters swing forward, receiver swings backwards

I had decent luck with the gs35b tubes that I bought. I've bought 6 good ones from ebay and 2 duds. The duds came from sellers in the US and I suspect they knew they were bad. I could have done a better job conditioning the tubes. I would run the heater for 24 hours and give them 4kv. I have...

All my meters swing forward, receiver swings backwards

That's what people want to see. Back in the day if you blew a pill you could just drop in another one. Since the gain varies so much on the China pills you're really lucky to find a close enough match and not have to replace them all.
