When you find yourself passing the practice tests, go ahead and look at the general. The general is not much harder than the tech. Hamstudy.org is your friend.
I'm not sure that is fair or relevant, but you are correct. There are also voltage regulators that could charge those batteries at 16 or 20 volts if a dragster wanted to waste the HP on it.
Wait a second, those are electrical lengths and the physical lengths are much shorter. Right? Unless you have some awesome coax with a vf of 1. Or am I screwed up once again?
I could care less what my swr is in the short runs of coax in the mobile. The amps... that's a different story. The feedline losses are nothing at 1.6:1 compared to the db's lost when the amp blows up.
Low swr for the right reasons lol
Even if I pulled the headliner to access the mount, would I just solder a resistor between the ring terminals? I don't think I can add a resistor at the antenna mount because there is essentially 2" of antenna in the mount itself. This just doesn't seem very feasible.
If I recall correctly my...
This really is true. Adding power takes you from screaming like a banshee trying to get a return to concentrating like mad trying to copy weak stations. I've had a lot 4x1 and 5x1 contacts lately, but then again, I probably wouldn't have a copy without a modern ham rig. I usually just tell...
I thought I broke my icom, but the rf gain and squelch on the same knobs got me. I felt pretty stupid the 3rd time I couldn't figure out why there was no rx.
I did figure out how to do the HW calibration, but I must have flashed new firmware at some point. I'm going to go back through the entire setup and calibration again.
I don't know. This one always says that when x is zero, or at least when it is between -0.2 and 0.2. Basically anytime it reads x=>5k it also reads Ls out of range.
I also don't know what "HW cal" is either. Measurements don't mean squat if they are inaccurate or interpreted incorrectly.
I removed the line isolator and added a barrel connector and it looks like my swr curve moved up about 200Khz
Out in the open my swr with the isolator is 1:1 on 27.500 and 1.1:1 on 27.385. In my driveway I am 1:1 on 27.185 and 1.1:1 on 27.385. Seems like a pretty happy medium for now.
I've been messing with the antenna system on my pickup for a while now. It's been pretty frustrating because it seems like none of my results align with anything I thought I knew. The vna would say one thing, and the meter would say another. I chased my tail for a while adding chokes and a...
Many people talk trash on running power in a mobile, but I seem to be doing much better with it. I'm guessing that the receive on the icom helps me out, but 2 cq's on 38 resulted in as many contacts on a pretty dead band. 1229 Texas and 171 utah.
You just squeeze your trigger and let me do...
I already installed the tip36 and keyed the radio with the amp disabled. The radio now has output. While the radio is "fixed" I wasn't certain if it was ok to just leave it. Based on your answer I assume there will be more current available, but the output will not change unless the radio is...
I'm working on a 695015BR ranger board and I have a tip36 in stock. The tip36 is often compared to the max-mod, and the max-mod is an acceptable replacement for the 2sb754. If this is ok, is this a drop in, or will other adjustments need to be made due to the additional current available...
