I heard some one was upgrading these to a 12 watt audio chip to replace this also seemed like some one was doing a wire to by pass some components and get more out of the audio chip. Anyone have info in this I'll second that its bottle necked the 1969 tip120 is a waste of time as it sits.
So I did the simple 2 switch mod for channels notice that on the Lowe end 26.81.5 not much forward swing and the same at 27.45.5 anything I can do to make it spread a bit better its great around 27.16.5 thanks in advance...

Reason I asked it I did a full recap of a Robyn sb520d worked okish before also changed all the c1419s to that part and now have no am modulation I read that tr26 I think it is can cause this just wanted to confirm this part isn't the issue.

Not so much a mod but an issue wasn't sure where this topic belongs. So I've got a second gen of the original 2970s the one with out the battery for cpu memory uses a cap instead. When plugged in turned on it will not receive or transmit for about 10 mins at room temperature for days doesn't...
Well no I did add talk back but regardless of if it's on or off the problem persists it's not so much a pop more like a free key up ping . None the less kinda annoying. But it last a couple seconds and goes away. I've done a very extensive amount to this radio in hopes my rx would be cleaner...
After looking at unit 399s pages that's someone posted can't remember who but thanks for that. I see one is there for PC-196bd not the ab which is what the 138 uses anyone think this would be easily adapted?
