Kenwood TS890 Clock keeps resetting after brief power outage

Aside from your battery problem...... You can setup the radio to connect to an NTP server from the internet to correct the internal clock. Page 14-2 in the manual.

3B7M Saint Brandon DX pedition 2023

Adrian, KO8SCA, from the Bouvet DXpedition, gave a zoom presentation to the Northern IL DX Association. At 35:00 into the video he explains their operating plan and mentioned there were problems with FT8 but "smart people that figured out how to work us". The clock on their computer was off...

3B7M Saint Brandon DX pedition 2023

https://3b7m.com/ team update #9 04/03/2022 05:30 utc In log 80k QSOs. Yesterday we went fishing with locals and OK6DJ, OM5ZW, OM4AYL. David caught a giant fish. We had a 2m shark near the QTH. Problems with low bands. After a strong storm, the 80m vertical fallen. We didn’t operate CW due to...

3B7M Saint Brandon DX pedition 2023

I worked them again this morning. 17m, FT8. Customary Frequency on 17m is 18.100. They were at 3000 Hz. Some radios have a standard SSB filter bandwidth of 2800 Hz. You may have to move your frequency up a bit. They are not using Fox/Hound but MSHV with two or three streams. No need to...

3B7M Saint Brandon DX pedition 2023

They were very strong to the east coast of the US around 9 am local time. Hope you work them.

3B7M Saint Brandon DX pedition 2023

I worked these guys on 10m CW this morning. Working split of course. As high as 10 up. Huge pile up but they are making an effort to work the US when the high bands open. Pile up is big but these are are fantastic CW ops. They are managing the pile ups very well and keep things under...

    Hilberling PT 8000 A

I saw it at the Dayton Hamvention. With its matching amplifier. Rolls is a good analogy. Buttons, knob action, fit and finish, “Elegant”. At the time, it’s reciever performance was one of the best you could buy. In my opinion the Hiberling, like a Rolls Royce, strokes some people’s vanity...

    3Y0J Bouvet Island

I feel very fortunate to have worked them. I did do some planning to determine when I would have the best chance. Here are some charts that breakdown their operations.

    3Y0J Bouvet Island

Hope that laptop with my FT8 Q makes it back to the boat! From the 3Y0J Facebook Page. [FEBRUARY 14 @ 0650Z] Just before 0100z, the generator shut down. This would be the beginning of the end for 3Y0J operations. Shortly after 0300z – as announced previously – we got official word the...

    3Y0J Bouvet Island

Someone on QRZ mentioned that the 3Y0J logs were uploaded to ClubLog. I checked to see if I made it. No! Then I read this on their Facebook page. 3Y0J Bouvet Island 2023 Update: From 3Y0J Team Co-Leader Ken LA7GIA 12 FEB 2023 18:20 UTC “3Y0J will go QRT Monday at 12:00 to 15:00 UTC when we...

    3Y0J Bouvet Island

Also....Normal Fox and Hound on FT8 would have the DX transmitting on the even time interval. 3Y0J is TXing on the odd interval. Many people are complaining about this. I think it is pretty clever. If you hear 3Y0J with an even TX interval it is a pirate.

    3Y0J Bouvet Island

I worked them this morning on 30m, FT8, at 06:30 UTC (01:30 Eastern time). They were using two Fox and Hound streams. I would have preferred a CW contact but I'll take what I can get.

    3Y0J Bouvet Island

A couple of pictures from their FB page. They are wearing survival suites for for the dingy ride because they can't beach the dingy and have to wade through water to get to the beach. They also have to "float" all the supplies from the dingy to the beach. The other photo is the station set...

    3Y0J Bouvet Island

They are on the air with 3 vertical antennas (30m, 15m, 17m), and 3 radios running 100w from one generator. They have made over 5,000 Qs mostly CW and SSB. Yesterday they focused on FT8. They have asked that if you work them on CW or SSB , not to work them again on FT8, to give others a chance...

    3Y0J Bouvet Island

I think their biggest challenge will be getting on the island. There were two attempts that failed in 2018 and 2019. Both times the weather near the island damaged the ships. https://www.bouvetdx.org/ https://bouvetoya.org/3yoi-postponed/ If they can get to the island they will have a climb...

ADMS Programing Software for FT-891, has anyone tried it?

I have the RT software for many radios. I have the 857 which is similar to your radio. I have both the Yaesu ADMS and RT software. I like the interface compared to the Yaesu software. Enjoy your radio.
