I am trying to unhack a General HP40 ando it has the 360015C Ranger board, does anyone know of a radio that used the same board that I can get the alignment info from on CB tricks or elsewhere?
Second what is the part number for TR32 that they insist on cutting out?
Results: inspect and reflow solder around TR23 and D22, nothing.
Remove and test D22, tested good, compared it with new one and installed a new one.
Remove and test TR23 with a Peak DCA 53, tested good, compared findings with two other ones I had, reinstall.
Checked voltage at regulator:

As I am working my way thru a stack of donated radios, I have a 29 LTD with the KEPC 060G board.
Here is a link to some help I found from The Radio Shop, I'm referring to post #10. The whole post is great for someone that has an interest in repair.

I think I got it. Open up the mic and solder the audio wire and solder across the PTT.
there are 5 pins on the switch?
The audio(pin 2) is yellow?
I understand that in the end I will have a clip on the shield wire, and a clip on the audio wire.
Just not sure how to make the PTT switch hot, I'll...
I'm trying to make a test mic using a coffin style 4 pin cobra as per Lou's book, understanding and repairing cb radios (page 9).
It states: A test mic with clip leads is very handy. Take a good mic and remove the plug.
Jumper the audio line across the PTT switch so it's always hot.
Cut off the...
If this will help anyone else out, I found some of the factory manuals say 80% and othe 30mv, but I was able to hook a DVM to the output terminals and use the fine tune knob to get it to 30mv. Confirmed with a frequency counter at the other end with 1kHz tone, Problem solved. Thanks to everyone.
Gentlemen, my point was what the manual says to inject the tone at 30%. I think the Captain is onto my question. What good is all the equipment if not used right.
From the factory repair manual is shows AF generator, I am using a Leader LAG 127 audio generator, not a RF signal generator. Am I...
Another tuning question: In the factory manual for the cobra 29 ltd it states when tuning transmitter:
TX mode/ 80% modulation
My question is, I am using an audio generator to send the 1 kHz tone to the mic jack. How do you reduce the percentage of modulation?
As far as your talkback, clean all that stuff off and use a 1/2 or 1 watt resistor with a value of 33 to 100 ohms, the smaller the value the louder it will be, to small may give you feedback issues. I personally run it thru the useless channel 9 switch so you can shut it off.
I did read thru all...
I'm with w9cll, wire it.
$300 is a tight budget. My son is into flying drones and they use the small security camera and old dvd screen to fly. Couldn't you make something up where you could wire it an have the data go to a laptop to view later?
Just a thought.
Just because it was converted doesn't mean it has other mods done to it. Many of your newer radios have mosfets.
I not sure what you mean about talking on one channel, etc. but I would recommend putting in on a good bench to see what it really is doing and if it's aligned.
You can google mods...
