Nice. Did you end up timing your whip at all?
Nice. Did you end up trimming the whip because of the added height of the adapter? I'm at 1.0 on 1 and 1.6 on 40.
Since I usually run a larsen nmo27 I installed an nmo mount. When I mount the Sirio I have to use an adapter. The Tram adapter is pretty narrow and allows the Sirio base to overhang. I don't like that. I don't see any other adapters that appear any wider. Anyone else have this issue or possible...
I usually call out 561 Missouri Mobile
Absolutely!
For now I prefer to optimize by setup, work out a few bugs, and see how it goes.
Swapped out a rather flimsy NMO mount for a Breedlove #504 today.
Much better!
Right on! I heard you a couple of hours ago on 36L but of course as soon as I keyed up so did a bunch of "warmed up" rigs. You couldn't make out my numbers and then poof the band went quiet on my end.
Working barefoot for me is a blast. It's like another of my hobbies hunting arrowheads. I...
Took the old Jeep Cherokee out to the hills in the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri yesterday.
Box stock McKinley and drilled roof Sirio 5000, no amp.
Mostly listened, lots of big stations out there.
Called out several times, no replies and no surprise as I was surrounded by a thick pine...
It appears there's someone in my area that uses 16AM quite a bit (with a healthy shot of whiskey) and bleeds onto sideband. I heard whiskey delta xray and some numbers a couple of times but yeah just too much interference. And then there's 17 taking up 3 channels...
I heard you in East Central Missouri calling out right around 1pm central so around 11am your time. You heard me reply but couldn't make out my numbers, WDX561. I was rolling 45mph on a local back road with a bunch of powerlines right next to me and rocking a 4ft Larsen lol. I like a challenge...
Tried this morning on my way home from work. Running barefoot is challenging enough and the 4 foot Larsen don't help when it comes to DX. Heard a couple of stations way way out there but no contact. There's a Sirio 5000 in an 18 wheel sleigh headed my way 10-4...
East Central, mainly St Louis, Jefferson, and Franklin Counties but I spend a lot of time a little further south on the forest roads in Washington, Reynolds and Iron Counties. Gonna spend a day at Taum Sauk Mountain as soon as I'm sporting that Sirio...
New guy will be there. I like the idea of getting that channel going again.
Box stock McKinley barefoot into a Larsen NMO27 with a permanent roof mount on a Jeep XJ.
Sirio Performer 1000 should be here any day.
561 Missouri Mobile standing by...
