I love my Lincoln II, but it doesn't reject static very well. When driving around I will sometimes get 10 DB of pure electrical noise. I understand some of it can't be avoided, but a lot of it can be filtered with a radio with good receive. I heard the Lincoln II Plus has better receive, but I'm...
Thanks for all your help. This amp is picker than a spoiled 3 year old. I put a high quality RG58u 4 foot jumper between the radio and the amp and the SWR's are now 1.2 with the box on, dead key is stable. Two, high quality 6 foot 8x jumpers and 1 8x 3 foot jumper had SWR issues. It's working...
Still having issues. The carrier is stable, but SWR's are around 2.8 with the amp on and 1.1 with the amp off. If I put the carrier to around 50 watts, the SWR's go down to 1.3. Again I'm using high quality 8X coax now on the antenna and jumpers with the Sirio magmount with a Sirio 5000 antenna...
The problem ended up being not one, but two RG8x jumpers of the same brand. I changed to different jumpers and the issues was resolved. I also upgraded from the Wilson 1000 magnet mount to the Sirio magnet mount and changed out the coax on the mount from the cheap aluminum RG58 to copper RG8x...
I tried a different antenna and had the same issue. I installed a Balun choke (RF isolator) after the amp and it fixed the problem entirely. The question is why do I need the choke?
Thanks for the feedback. I tried it with my Cobra 25 and my Lincoln II. No dirty mods have been done, just a basic supermod on the 25 and modulation turned up a bit on the Lincoln. I have ferrite chokes all over already. I removed them just in case and it made no difference with this. I'm going...
No this isn't the issue, regardless where the variable on the amp is, it is the same issue. I said it will do 800 watt, not that I was running it like that. This is the dead key, not the swing. I can't get the dead key over 75 without it jumping to 200+ with high SWR's. I should be able to...
I picked up a Fatboy 1x4 amp with a variable on the front. The amp is working great putting about close to 800 watts when all the way open. However I'm have an issue adjusting the dead key either with the amp's variable or from the radio. The dead key is stable up to about 75 watts with 1.3...
I just installed the Sirio 5000 Turbo on my truck and I'm getting about 2 S units less static than with my Wilson 1000. The receive appears to be about 1 S unit better. I have not done any test with it yet from my base, but people don't have any trouble hearing me with my Cobra 25 and Dave Made...
There were two long termed unemployed idiots on SSB yesterday. One was playing music up on 27.435 and the other was moving their VFO up and down to create noise on channel 38.
You're a bully. You have been throwing little comments out there and playing little mind game with a lot of people for some time. I know your type and I know the game. If I could guess you grew up very privileged and well off. Looking at the equipment you are able to afford and proudly show off...
The IMAX is a good antenna for an entry level radio operator. Some of these other ones with the elements are a bit large and require more time and work to install. Another antenna is the Sirio Gain-Master. It's costly and doesn't handle much power, but it is supposed to be better for TVi. Also...
I'm in Houston too. I'm sure heard me out there. There is also a guy that goes by Leg Breaker. He has an echo and an 80s video game sounding rodger beep. Are they the same person or are they two different people? I think that is the guy you're talking about and he has that crazy laugh. That is...
I think you'll need a little more money to do what you want to do right. I tried cheaping out and was never happy. Spend the extra money and do it right. The good thing about CB equipment is it has a high resell these days if you want to sell it later. I personally don't mess with used stuff too...
Didn't see this one mentioned, but there is a guy that regularly plays a song by Earl Scruggs called Foggy Mountain Breakdown on channel 17 and 19. He'll loop it sometimes for an hour. These people really have no life.
Getting a lot of what you might call narrow, direct pipelines. Been getting a guy that goes by 440 in Massachusetts on channel 19 for the past two days. He hears me every time. Talked to a guy what goes by Black Knight for about 30 minutes out of Alberta Canada on channel 25 running a Kenwood...
